An open house will be held- this Sunday to interest more retired people in moving into the com- plex and taking part in the community being formed there, The buildings have electric front door controls, a beautiful view of Lake Huron, recreation and laundromat facilities while each apartment is broadloomed, with TV tower hook-ups, patios Psychologists say you can usually change the attitude of others toward you. If you're more cheerful when dealing with them they might be- come more friendly towards you. and refrigerators and ranges included. The apartments are all one bedroom with individually controlled electric heat. Rental is $1611 per month and this includes everything except telephone. There is no extra charge for the use of the laundro- mat. You don't have to be married to be eligible to live in the com- plex, just retired. Arrangements can be made with the Bluewater Rest Home across the road to allow residents of Maplewood to get their noon meal at the Rest Home if they wish. The recreation room includes a piano and card tables and resid- ents of Maplewood have already formed a recreation committee with the idea of having recreation projects not only for themselves but to help entertain other senior citizens in the area. There are still some final de- tails to be taken care of as the electric door system is not yet functional and there is still a lot of landscaping to be done out- side. However, all 24 apartments are ready for occupancy and the remainder of the work will soon be completed. Consumer minister Sidney Randleman has announced that liquor store employees have been told to accept only official age of majority cards as identification where there is any doubt about the age of prospective youthful purchasers.. Nursery has 22 enrolled The Exeter co-operative nursery school has most of the equipment andfurniture they will need to open and permission to use Exeter United Church starting September 7 said Mrs. Ann Gray, one of the organizers, They are presently seeking permission from the church to use their facilities for storage. The furniture and equipment has been built by husbands of the women organizing the school and patients at the London Psychiatric center said Mrs. Gray. There are 22 students enrolled in both the classes out of a possible 100. People wishing to enroll their children should contact Mrs. Janet Hern. "As far as I'm concerned, no other form of identification currently in use is suitable or acceptable," Mr. Randleman said. "A driver's license or social security card is easily borrowed, whereas the age of majority card incorporates a photograph of the bearer." Application forms for the cards are available at Liquor Control Board of Ontario outlets, Brewers Retail stores, most licensed premises and by a written or telephone request to the Liquor Licence Board of Ontario. The procedure for obtaining age of majority cards is similar to applying for a passport. Completed applications, bearing the signature of a guarantor, must be returned together with a passport-sizephotograpband a $2 fee. The staff at all liquor stores has been instructed to provide assistance to individuals who require help in completing the forms, Mr. Handleman said. More than 7,000 of the cards, which were introduced in Ontario in 1973, have been issued to date. Initially, the cards were intended to provide proof if age in licensed establishments. Page 8.
