Hi!
I'm Rudolph.
I'm sure all of you have heard
of me in my famous story or in
my famous song called Rudolph
the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
Well that's not true. Have you
heard, have you really heard, the
true story of Rudolph.
My name was really Rodger
but who ever heard of a reindeer
named Rodger, They named me,
Rudolph and since I had a red
nose they called me Rudolph the
Red Nose Reindeer,
Well I wasn't lacking friends
as it says in the song. I was very
popular with the other reindeers.
I was a busy reindeer with
being a reindeer stop and
directing reindeers in blizzards.
We have a lot of blizzards in the
north.
Well Santa didn't ask me, he
pleaded to me to direct his sleigh
through the fog, If I didn't go,
you wouldn't have received any
toys last year.
Comet and Cupid had a bet
with their hoof money that I
wouldn't do it. Just to prove I
was a good reindeer I went with
Santa,

I've heard of people I've
heard of people having dates; but
Rudolph and his playmate, Well
its true and why be blue, You
must face the fact, that they
went for a snack. ,
In the village, people sat play-
ing cribbage, with that look on
their face, while few sat to eat
and say grace.
Just then Rudolph got a call
that made him climb the wall, he
had forgot Christmas!

The True Story of Rudolph
BY BRUCE SHA W
Views on plan
I believe it might be of ,.some
interest to the community to have
a personal view of what happened
at last Thursday's public meeting
at which time the Official Plan
and the proposed Zoning By-laws
were discussed,
AS a result of the attendance
and the suggestions raised at the
meeting, Council was unable to
pass second and third readings
accepting the two documents.
There are no regrets that a delay
has developed because the
suggestions raised were, in many
cases, significant and valid. The
discussion was good, but, as we
expected, most of the people in
attendance had a vested interest
in what was being done. Several
people, however, who were not
personally involved with the
proposed changes offered ex-
cellent suggestions and com-
ments.
It is expected that Council will
examine all of these ideas at a
special meeting to be held during
the early part -of January,
Council will meet on January 5th,
it's next 'regular meeting, to
discuss what steps will be taken.
It is my opinion that Council will
Set a night for a special meeting
(which will be open to the public)
to discuss the proposed amend-
ments which were raised last
week. It will then, probably, hold
another public meeting before
second and third readings are
given. The public will, therefore,
be allowed a second chance to
discuss these two documents.
It was a pleasure to see three

former students there offering
meaningful suggestions that
would provide for the future and
the beauty Of maintaining Exeter
as the type of community it
presentl` is. Also, they asked
probing questions that demanded
answers and, in some cases, a re-
thinking of what was being
proposed.
As expected, those who are
very close to the proposed
changes voiced their conerns as
to the effect on them personally,
In some instances, their concern
was for the good of the Town, and
I would expect that Council will
consider their suggestions very
carefully,
If another public meeting is in
order, I trust that these who Are
concerned with the direction in
which Exeter is going will voice
their opinions. As I said last time,
we are open to suggestions tO.t
will be of 'public good.' (The
Official Plan and the Zoning By-
laws are available in the Town
Offices, I hope,)

North or South?
by LISA
Room 4
That's the question Billy
Walker asked his mother last
Christmas.
"Mom do I go north or south to
see Santa Claus?" little Billy
asked.
"Well Billy don't you think
you're a little young to go off on
your own, all the way up to the
North Pole too!" was her reply.
"The North Pole," said Billy
quickly. "Is that where Santa
lives?"
"Yes it is. but I still think
you're a little too young to go all
the way up there by yourself,"
chuckled Mrs. Walker.
"I am not! I'm five years old
and that's pretty old," cried
Billy.
"Well if you think you're old
enough I guess you are," replied
Mrs. Walker. "I'll phone Santa
and ask the directions. Good-bye.
Follow the directions very
carefully and don't get lost."
Billy went out the door and
looked at the directions. There
was just 1 minor problem. Billy
couldn't read. He walked back
into the house.
"Mom I guess I could wait a
couple of years," said Billy. "I
think I'll just send him a letter.
Will you help me write it?"
"All right, go get a paper,
pencil and I'll be right there."
Well that's all but in a couple
of years I wonder if Billy will
still want to go to the North Pole.
Good-night.
e:lie•wweli23.e4e.wievee ,
Santa was so pleased with me
he asked me to go with him this
year.
So. I hope when you read my
story or listen to my song, you
remember the true story of
Rudolph.
