On October 23rd IMPACT published a letter from a reader in
Ailsa Craig, concerning the credibility of "Work at Home ads"
(addressing envelopes) which appear quite frequently in some
newspapers and magazines.
At the time we were unable to make contact with the man
behind this particular ad. His name is Gill Dodier and he resides
in Mitchell, (where he conducts his business from) and it seems
that we are not the only ones to whom people have made en-
quiries, including our good friend, Gord. Sanderson who heads
the popular "Sound Off" column in the London Free Press. Other
enquiries have also been directed to The London Chamber of
Commerce.
For the sum of $5.50 a person receives a directory and
"instruction manual." The former consists of a listing of 95 firms
purporting to offer opportunities for profitable home work while
the latter informs one how to make money by mailing circulars to
people interested in making extra money at home, exactly of
course, what Gill Dodier is himself doing.
He claims his directory to be 100% accurate but that is rather
doubtful as no indication is given as to when it was actually com-
piled, also interesting is the fact that of the 95 firms listed, 78 of
them have U.S. business addresses.
To be quite honest and frank, we were not exactly "turned
on" by Mr. Dodier's $5.50 "investment", but as always, the final
decision rests with you, the reader.

A young married couple with their first child who are
both working are apparently rather confused about which
parent is supposed to claim for their child on their income
tax form, and so have written us a short note to try and .
clarify the situation.
According to an accountant whom we contacted, the claim
should .be made by the child's mother, but it has to be made on a
TFA1 form which we are told is mailed from Ottawa, along with
the Family Allowance Cheque in February. If you require this
form any earlier, then write to, The Department of Natipnal
Revenue and Taxation, Ottawa 10, Ontario, TIP 5G4.
