Nineteen seniors met Tuesday
at the Lucan alleys for an af-
ternoon of bowling. This en-
thusiastic group will bowl again
December 30, and invite all who
wish to share in two hours of
recreation to join them.
Wednesday, 70 members of the
Lucan Senior Citizens' Club
gathered at the Legion Hall for
their Christmas party. The
members of the auxiliary
catered, providing a delicious
turkey dinner.
Marjorie Steeper provided a
beautiful reading "The Story of
the Christmas Guest" which was
read by president Muriel
Cobleigh.
Costly collision
on county road
An early morning collision on
Friday caused $2100 to the two
vehicles involved on County Road
23 a mile north of Highway 7. A
pickup truck driven by Clifford
Hardie, RR 2 Granton collided
with a car owned by Mary Lynne
Pryor. There were no injuries.
A car driven by Gary Maslen
left the road Saturday morning as
he travelled on Highway 4, just
south of Elginfield, Mr. Maslen's
car struck two guard rails,
causing an estimated $550
damage.
In all, the Lucan detachment of
the OPP reported 10 accidents
that caused $6650 in damage and
took one life. There were no other
injuries.
Carols were enjoyed plus a film
"Country Hospital" starring
Laurel arid Hardy, which created
much laughter.
Santa Claus arrived with many
"Ho, ho, ho's ", amid the jingling
C.G.I.T. service
at Lucan UC
A Vesper service with a dif-
ference was presented by the
Lucan CGIT Sunday evening.
Sherry Hominsky, Janyce Burt
and Mary Madden assisted by
leader Pam Wright opened the
service by pretending to bake a
birthday cake, and one which had
been prepared previously was
served at the close of the service,
together with punch.
Wendy Hearn, as leader with
readers Linda Webber and
Brenda Thompson shared in
telling of the symbols of
Christmas and as these were
mentioned they were presented
at the manger by members of the
Explorer Group.
Candles were lit by all mem-
bers of the CGIT who shared
what Christmas meant to them as
they placed their candle on the
cake. The hostess group and the
Explorers were in the choir and
sang three new carols with Bev
Madden at the piano.
Flowers in the narthex and the
sanctuary were from the funeral
of the late Kenneth Burgess and
the sympathy of the congregation
is extended to Mrs. Burgess and
the children.

The afternoon drew to a close
with a quartette singing "Merry
Christmas Day" including ac-
tions and the members singing
along in the chorus. Singers were
Violet Hardy, Amelia Armitage,
Agnes Hotson and Iva Hodgins,
with Muriel Cobleigh at the
piano.

The Lucan Novice were guests
of Exeter Waxers on Saturday
evening. The Lucan boys came
out on the short end 5-0.
The Lucan Pee Wee team
played host , to Strathroy on
Friday night. The Lucan boys
played a tough hockey game but
came up two goals short. The
Strathroy team defeated Lucan 5-
3. The Lucan sharp shooters were
Mark DeBoer,Brad Degraw and
Paul Wraith.
Friday evening the Lucan
Bantams defeated the Strathroy
team 4-3. The Lucan goal getters
were Stuart Eedy, Ron Glenn,
Martin Duenc and Bob Hodgins.
The Lucan Midgets spent too
much time in the penalty box and
came with a 9-3 loss to Strathroy.
The Lucan goals were scored by
Ken Holland with a pair and
Marten Clarke with a single.
Sunday evening the Lucan
Juveniles came off the ice
defeating Exeter 4-2. Rick
Freeman came up with a hat
trick and a single popped in by
Don Riddell.
Hciuse League
First Bantam game was bet-
ween the Aces and the Eagles.
The Aces defeated their op-
position 3-1. The goal scorers for
the Aces were _Brent Stainlen
with a pair and a single for Mike
Christmas eve
services planned
Lucan United Church will hold
two services Christmas Eve. At
7:30, music of Christmas will be
emphasized with Donna Walker
and Joe Neves on flute, guitar
and voice, Doug Barr at the
organ and Glen Percy on
trumpet.
At the 11 p.m., service of Holy
Communion will be held with
Flora Robertson at the organ,
Calvin Jackson on trumpet and
Jim Robertson with a word of
testimony re the goodness of God.

Cooltnan attended the birthday
gathering in honour of their
grandson Mr. 'Jack Garriett of
Ilderton which owing to Mrs.
Garrlett's illness had to be held at
the home of Mr. & Mrs. Don
Taggart of London,
Congratulations are forwarded
to Mr, & Mrs. Ken Latta and Mr.
& Mrs. Lorne Morley on the
arrival of a small pink parcel to
each family.
Joe Grey left Lucan Saturday
noon on his return trip to
Shawnigan Lake B.C. with his
'boat trailer loaded with racing
shells for the school there. Both
trailer and boats were built here
in the village.

School was won by Mrs. Maria
Van Massenhoven of London, One
of the grandmothers attending
the Christmas party Mrs. Nel
Attriel drew the winning ticket.

scored by Allan Grace.
In the second Bantam game the
Sabres defeated the Hawks 9-4.
The goal getters for the Sabres
were Collen Wildfong with 6, Jim
Hardie with a pair and one by
John Toonders, The lone
marksman for the Hawks was
Kevin Windsor with four.
The first Pee Wee game was
between the Thunderbirds and
the Blazers. The game ended in a
1-1 tie with scoring for the
Thunderbirds by John Hominsky
and by Dave Ganes for the
Blazers,
In the second Pee Wee game
the Lions bombed the Raiders 6-0.
The marksmen for the Lions
were Don Liley with a pair and
singles by Bruce Haygarth,
Jammie Mugford, John Storey
and Mike Neil. Ian Carrot and
Mike Hayter shared in the shut-
out.
In the final Pee Wee game the
Barons defeated the Bombers 4-3.
The sharp shooters for the
Barons were Robbie Black with a
,pair and Pat Murphy and Chris
'Sockett each fired one,' The
marksmen for the Bombers were
Brian Currah, Al McRoberts and
Sean Riddea all firing singles.
The first Atom game was
between the Wildcats and the
Bears. The Wildcats defeated the
Bears 1-0. The lone goal getter
was Daryl Edginton. The
shutout went to Dwayne Lyons.
The second Atom game was a
tie between the Cougars and the
Jets. The goal scorers were Sean
Rooney for the Cougars and Todd
Hayter for the Jets,
