Brent Atthill took a pass from John ',Viol to put Exeter one up on Lucan at 6:27 of the first period. Jeff Lilley tied the game for Lucan on a pass from Brian Densmore with only seven seconds left in the second period. It was the only goal of the period. Kernick's second goal came while Russ Hayter was off ser- ving a high-sticking penalty. It was the only penalty called in the cleanly played game. Kernick continued his scoring ways the next game as he and Scott Brintnell came op with two goals apiece to boost the Atoms over top of South London 4-1. Kernick opened the scoring for Exeter at 5:22 of the period. He got the eventual game winner and his second just over a minute later. Both goals were unassisted. South London lit up their side of the scoreboard at 3:52 of the second when D. Smith beat goaltender Scott Hartley. Brintnell got the first of his two when he beat goalie Parkington at 7:23 of the period. Chris Van Gerwen picked up an assist. He finished off the scoring at the 9:00 mark of the period when he took a pass from Kernick to give Exeter their three goal lead. The third period was scoreless. Exeter took both of the penalties in the game. Pee Wee "B" John Queen an led the St. Marys Pee Wee team to a 6-2 victory over the Exeter team, marking the second time the St. Marys team had come out the winner in the club's two contests this year, at 3:57 of the first, He was followed by Queenan and Kevin Mitchell and then Queenan again. It took Exeter just l8 seconds to get on the scoreboard when Steve Riddell scored from Trevor Boyle. Just over a minute later, Mark Vandergunst put Exeter back in the game with a goal on a pass from Wayne Smith. That ended Exeter's scoring drive and. Queenan put the game out of reach with his hat trick goal at 3:70 of the period, Steve Tomkins finished off the scoring for St. Marys. Four penalties were called, three of them to Exeter, who managed to kill them all off without being hurt by a power play goal. Pee Wee "A" The Pee Wee "A" team had no trouble scoring goals this past week as they amassed a total of 19 in their two games, including a 12 goal shutout against Belmont on December 12, Dave Bell led the team in the rout against Belmont with a hat trick, bracketing the scoring with the first and last goals.. After Bell scored his first, he was followed by Dave Shaw with the first of his two, Greg prow with his only goal, Mark Van- dergunst with two, Hick Lin- denfield, Ed Willis and Mike Clark with one each. Exeter took three of the four penalties in the game, The next night, Bell again picked up the hat trick as Exeter beat Huron Park 7-1. Bantam "A" The Bantam A's, who had looked invincible in the earlier part of the season showed that they were mere humans again this week, as they dropped their second game of the-year to Belmont and an exhibition match to South London. The A's did have a good night against Huron Park, however, as they trounced them 10-1, Dan Bell opened the scoring for Exeter on passes from Jeff Fuller and Doug Fletcher. Doug Brooks made it 2-1 before the end of the period. Steve Wells took it easy in the net as he faced only. two shots the whole period. His Huron Park counterpart met with.6, The second period saw more checking from the two teams, and although they were outshot only by 2, Huron Park was unable to get on the board. Exeter in- creased their lead with goals from Dave Cann and Brian Mercer, Brooks and Bogart got one more each before Preston Dearing scored a pretty goal stealing the puck at center and going in all alone to score, Huron Park finally broke the shut out held by Steve Wells at 10:23 of the third when Tim Lawrence set up Ralph Williams and Williams let go with a long low drive that beat Wells for their only goal. Bell came back and scored a fluke goal for Exeter when he shot from behind the net, hit the goalie and the puck trickled into the net. Dearing and Mercer picked up another goal apiece to make the final score 10-1. Exeter outshot their opponents 27-8 on the game, bringing coach Bon Bogart to say that "it cer- tainly shows 00 the scoreboard when a team is playing the game properly." The A's didn't play so properly in their next game, as they lost their second game of the regular season to Belmont 3-1. The third period was the downfall for the A's as they had stayed with Belmont throughout the game. Bogart gave them the lead in the first period when he took 'a pass from Mercer and Dearing to open the scoring at 7:46 of the first. Belmont came back to tie it early in the second, and added two unanswered goals in the third to give them the win. The loss leaves the A's in second spot to Lambeth, with a 9 and 2 record, The A's also dropped an exhibition game to South London by the score of 6-2, Bogart said that he doesn't feel that South London was "four goals better then us." He is looking for a rematch, feeling that the A's can do much better the next time. After a scoreless first period in which London took both penalties, London came out in the second to score three unanswered goals. Dave Bogart put Exeter on the board at 1:31 of the third when he picked up a pass from Mercer and skated in and beat the London goaltender. London picked up two more goals and a game misconduct for high-sticking before Mercer got his second goal of the game when he banged in a rebound off a shot by Dan Bell. London scored once more to finish off the scoring. Juveniles Two goals in the third period gave Exeter the margin that they Happy Yuletide Be a Red Cross Blood Donor needed to defeat the Lucan.
