The Exeter Times-Advocate, 1975-12-11, Page 164 Ducks, mice and clowns, the reindeer and sleigh; elves, and living Christmas trees, three little pigs, a wolf, and glitter everywhere at the seventh an- nual Exeter Santa Claus parade last Saturday, provided an ex- citing and fun-filled day for young and old alike. Santa was almost forgotten there was so much to see— forgotten until he handed out candy to the boys and girls who watched movies at the Exeter public school after the parade. Still it was Santa's parade sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and after he got his faulty microphone working; his "God Bless You's" and "Ho, Ho, Ho's echoed everywhere. There was no snow for the event but that had its hidden merits too — for the clowns from Skateland in London had good traction for roller-skating antics. And though it was cold, the people marching and playing their instruments, the costumed cartoon characters and little girls dressed up like Christmas presents, were spared the wet chill of melting snow. Yes it would have been idyllic to see great white flakes flutter down upon the shoulders of pretty cheerleaders and prancing Clydesdales, But then again, Santa had sunshine, and the people, floats and onlookers from miles around convinced him the Christmas season has not melted away. The entry made by Beta Sigma Phi was judged best overall float, followed closely by the Kin- smen's and Lions' displays. The Junction came first for best decorated car, followed by an entry of Murray Greene. Best school entry went to Exeter Public School, who marched as living Christmas trees to the step of a little white Angel.
