Pee Wee "B" The Lucan Pee Wee team snuck by Exeter 1-0 on a third period goal by Steve Glenn. from Jamie Shipley. The goal came at 1:17 of the period, with Exeter's Bruce Shaw in the penalty box after being tagged with an elbowing call. Exeter took 4 of the 7 penalties called. Goaltender Mark Grove picked up the shutout for the Lucan team. Pee Wee "A" The Pee Wee "A" team split their two games this past week, beating Strathroy and losing to Lambeth, Bill Glover opened the scoring for Exeter on a pass from captain Pete Tuckey, Mike Taylor added to the lead just over two minutes later. Tuckey and Ed Willis finished off the scoring for Exeter in the third period. Exeter took three of the seven penalties called in the game. A stronger Lambeth club proved too much for the Pee Wee team to handle when they played in Lambeth on December 5. It took less then a minute far John Faulkner to find the mark to give Lambeth a 1-0 lead. Del Collins followed shortly after to give Lambeth a 2-0 lead. Exeter got on the scoreboard when Ed Willis scored from Dave Bell and Rick Lindenfield with less then 30 seconds left in the period, Collins got his second goal of the game for Lambeth and the only goal in the second period when he beat goalie Fletcher at 6:54, Kevin Easterbrook closed the gap when he took passes from Tom Coates and Bell to beat Lambeth goaltender Greg Scott, Greg Smith scored into the empty net to add the insurance for Lambeth. Midget Scott Hartley had a shut out going until late in the third period as Exeter Midgets defeated Ilderton 3-1. John Kernick opened the scoring from Scott Brintnell at 8:56 of the first period for the only goal of the period. Chris Van Gerwen got what turned out to be the winning goal early in the second period. The goal was unassisted, Steve Batten got the insurance goal with under a minute to go in the second period on assists from Doug Scott and Brent Atthill. Mickey Baird got the lone Ilderton goal in the third period. Exeter took all three of the penalties called, Juvenile "A" A three goal first period by the Juvenile team was all that they needed to defeat their Delaware opponents in hockey action at the arena last Sunday. Paul Shapton opened the scoring at 2:19 when he took a pass from Mike DesJardine and beat Bob Dawsett close in to start the Exeter ball rolling. Pete Kincaid followed up six minutes later and Rick Moody scored the third less then a minute after Kincaid, Ed Moore got the first and only goal for Delaware on a Exeter men start `women's soccer Three Exeter men are organizing a women's soccer team to compete in the London Women's Soccer League in conjunction with International Women's Year. Just before the period ended; DesJardine scored a power play goal withDelaware'sMooreoff for a tripping infraction, Exeter added three more goals in the second period, by Jinn Ferguson DesJardine's second and Kincaid's second. There was a total of 36 penalties called, 19 going to. Exeter, Ron McDougall of Delaware and DesJardine both received fighting majors in the third along with coinciding game misconducts. Bantam "A" The bubble finally burst for the Bantam "A" team as they won their twelfth straight game of exhibition and regular season but dropped the unlucky thirteenth, Last Wednesday Exeter beat Strathroy 6-1 in a wide open free style sort of game that saw Exeter controlling the play from the opening face off. 'Dan Bell got the first marker for Exeter when he took a pass from brother Dave and Jeff Fuller. At 9:11 of the period Brian Mercer made it 2-0 when he took a pass from Larry Dawson to beat the Strathroy goalie from close in, At 1:24 of the second Strathroy was briefly back in the game when they scored to close the gap to 2-1. It was shortlived, however, when Dave Atthill let a blistering shot go from the point that gave Exeter a 3.1 lead. Strathroy was playing shorthanded. Brian Mercer picked up the hat trick when he got two goals less than a minute part in the third period. Fuller rounded out the Exeter scoring. All three third period goals came within a two minute time span. Strathroy took 5 of the 9 penalties handed down, but there was only one power play goal in the game as both teams con- trolled the penalty killing very well. Exeter outshot Strathroy 27-17. Coach Ron Bogart says that he is not superstitious, but the thirteenth game proved unlucky for the Bantam team. It was their first loss of the season, as they dropped the game 5-4 to Lam- beth. The game got,' off to a bang when Mercer scored with less than a minute gone in the period. Two minutes later, Lambeth tied the game, on a power play goal with Exeter's Dave Bogart off for high sticking. With 1:25 left in the period Dan Bell put Exeter ahead on assists from Bogart and Steve Pearce. Dave Atthill got the only goal of the second period when he stole the puck at center and skated all alone to beat the Lambeth goaltender to make the score 3-1. With 2:30 gone in the third frame, Dan Bell scored an unassisted goal practically clinching the win for the A's. "Then the roof fell in" as Coach Bogart put it. Lambeth scored three unan- swered goals in a row to tie the game as the A's left their goal area unprotected and failed to clear the puck. With the score tied 4-4 the puck bounced into the Exeter net after a scramble in front of the net. The puck trickled over the line "not even hitting the back of the net" Bogart said, Exeter came back strong, but failed to pass to an open winger who could have possibly tied the score again. There were only five penalties through out the game, 3 to Lambeth, Exeter outshot Lambeth 34-25. The loss leaves the A's tied in first place with Lambeth with an 8 and 1 record. Three unanswered goals in the second period by the Exeter Mohawks carried them to a 7-3 victory over the CCAT Saints in South Huron Hockey League action last Thursday night at the Huron Park arena. CCAT opened the scoring when Jim Davis scored the first of his three goals while Murray Glanville was off for holding, 34 seconds later Exeter tied the score when Allen Knight beat goaltender Paul Ward after being set up by Larry Willert and Howard Churchill, Davis scored again for CCAT just before the period ended to give them a 2-1 lead to take into the second period. Willed opened the Mohawk onslaught early in the second period when he scored a power play goal while CCAT's Fred Munro was off serving an in- Santa Suggests MAKING IT A Large Stock * TNT RV * TNT * OLYMPIQUE * ELAN * DOUBLE TRAILERS Clothing By Ski-Doo Makes a GREAT GIFT WE NEED YOUR TRADE THOMPSON- WARNER MOTORS Open 7 Days till 10 Grand Bend 238-2391 "Nice People to Deal With" terference infraction, —Munro's was the only penalty called against CCAT in the entire game. Glanville put Exeter ahead at 7:50 of the period, George Tryon popped in the eventual winner at 17:40 of the period when he slid a pass from Churchill past Ward. Both teams had one penalty apiece in the second period, It didn't take long for the Mohawks to find the mark in the third period. Churchill came out flying and hit for Exeter's fifth goal with only 24 seconds gone on the clock, Just before five minutes were up Tryon put in Exeter's sixth goal to make the score 6-2. Davis finished off CCAT's scoring with his third goal of the night on a power play again, Tryon was off for a high sticking call when Davis popped in the goal behind Rob Grant. Willert completed the scoring to give Exeter their four point margin. Exeter took ten of the eleven penalties called, including a third period misconduct to Tryon, The win gives Exeter six victories on the season and moves them a point ahead of CCAT with two games in hand on the Saints.
