held their Christmas meeting
Monday evening with 33 mem-
bers and three visitors present.
Mrs. Bev Alexander, program
convener was in charge of the
Christmas worship service of
which the theme was "Home For
Christmas." She gave the Call to
Worship. Mrs. Glen Stewart led
in prayer.
Several Christmas carols were
sung through the candle lighting
service, Those assisting with the
service were Mrs. Reg Hodgert,
Mrs, Glen Stewart, Mrs. Howard
Cunnington, Mrs, Wes Reid and
Mrs. Alexander.
Mrs. Wes Reid favored with
several Christmas numbers on
the piano.
Mrs. Alexander introduced
June Tomkins who has a hobby
shop north of Brucefield who
showed how to make lovely
Christmas wreaths, flowers,
dolls, etc.
Mrs. Glen Stewart thanked
June and presented her with a
poinsettia.
Happy Anniversary was sung
to Mrs. Rick Mellenger and
Happy Birthday was sung to her
grandmother Mrs. Alvin
Passmore whose anniversary
and birthday are December 1.
Mrs. Lee Webber opened the
business with a reading Things of
Christmas. Roll call, minutes,
cards of thanks, treasurer's
report were given,
It was decided to cater to the
baseball club's banquet at
Kirkton-Woodham Hall,
December 12.
Helen Webber said a few words
of appreciation to the ladies for
their help over the past two
years. The president for next
year, Mrs. Glen Stewart, spoke
words of appreciation to Helen
for her help as president over the
last two years.
Group C served a very
delicious lunch of Christmas
cookies and cake.
Going away and surprise party
Saturday evening some eighty
people gathered at the Usborne
Central School to present Mr. &
Mrs. Robert Mayer with a
farewell gift and to present a
surprise 40th wedding an-
niversary gift to Mr. & Mrs.
Harold Rowe.
There were 18 tables of cards in
play. Prizes were won by Mrs.
Bill Rohde, Mrs. Jack Stewart,
Mrs. Mary Hodgert,HaroldRowe,
Scot Hodgert, Mrs, Carl Hume.
Lee Webber called Mr, & Mrs.
Robert Mayer forward and read
the address, and Mac Hodgert
presented them with a mirror.
Phil Hern gave a short address
to Mr. & Mrs. Harold Rowe and
Lloyd Ballantyne and Bill
Lamport presented them with a
decanter set and plate.
