When you give a Cardinal for Christmas, you're giving a gift
that will be appreciated for years to come.
Because a Cardinal glides ever so smoothly on 17-true working
jewels. So it keeps on keeping time Christmas after Christmas
after Christmas.
And with a wide assortment of distinctive styles to choose from,
there's a model just right for everyone on your Christmas list.
So give a Cardinal this Christmas,
You can make it easier for your furnace to heat your home this
winter and save energy by practicing these simple tips.
Use storm doors and win-
dows to prevent draughts.
Make sure your home is
properly insulated. This can
reduce your fuel bill.
Have your furnace checked
before the heating season.
Once a month, clean the
filter.

Make sure nothing blocks any
heating register or cold air return.
Close off rooms that aren't being
used and close the heating
register.
Try setting your thermostat a
couple of degrees lower than you
usually do and save even more
energy.

Belated Happy St. Andrew's
Day to all our Scottish friends.
And here is a Good Scots Toast to
go along with it. `We toast ye the
nicht, the hill and the heather,
The Bonnet, the kiltie, the plaid
and the feather, The land o'
the mountain,the stream and the
river, The land o' our ancestors,
Scotland forever."
Saturday Comrade J.W. Smith,
myself and our ladies were in-
vited to Branch 388, Royal
Canadian Legion, Wyoming for
the St. Andrew's Day ob-
servances. Had a great time
however was a little ap-
prehensive when they served the
haggis — surprising enough I
found it to be to my liking.
Now for the readers who don't
know too much about St„ Andrew
here is a little background. St.
Andrew was one of the twelve
apostles of Jesus — he was the
son of a fisherman, He travelled
and preached in Asia Minor and
Greece. He was put to death at
Patras in Greece on a cross
shaped like the letter X. Andrew
is the Patron Saint of Scotland,
Greece and Russia. He did not
visit Scotland but his bones were
taken there, and pilgrims went to
see them at a place now called St.
Andrew's. Later a king of the
Scots chose the cross of St.
Andrew to be his flag, and, in
time, it became the flag of
Scotland.

The world's first "full size" compact sewing machine.
Because of its size, perhaps you prefer "lack"of size, one might
think of it as being short on features. Not a bit. Our compact
is packed with features including a free arm for awkward sewing
like cuffs, sleeves and pockets. With a flick of the dial you choose
all of the beautifully practical stitches you'll ever need. Sewing
a buttonhole is as simple as 1, 2, 3, 4 ...
Husqvarna's compact offers you more sewing area than most
bulky, standard machines, a non-jamming shuttle, plus
Husqvarna's exclusive non-oiling feature.
And the whole package comes in a neat, attractive carrying
case.
