I think 1 have been "flim flammed" for $750.00 from a
hair weaving establishment in Toronto because that's
what I'm out to date and I certainly have not got my
money's worth.
I signed a contract with this firm to have webs of hair
weaved into my own and styled anyway that I liked for a
total cost of $1500. They agreed to.take 1/2 down and the
rest on post dated cheques, ( which I've since stopped.) I
must admit that I had been doing some drinking when I
signed this contract and I know they took advantage of me
but anyway I couldn't stand going around with metal clips
on my head and a hairpiece tied to the clips so I had this
whole mess removed and went back and presented it to
this firm.
I told them that they could have something for their
trouble but they were not interested and claim they will
sue me for the balance.
A spokesman for this firm was very polite but very adamant
when he informed us that they had kept their part of the contract
and that they expected this client to do the same.

Our family finds itself in a financial jackpot and it's not
our fault. We had to borrow money to have our car
repaired after it was badly damaged in a hit and run acci-
dent because the owner of the other car carried no in-
surance.
There's no collision insurance on our car so we have to
depend on a settlement from the Motor Vehicles Accident
Claims Fund. They did send out an appraiser quite prompt-
ly but so far there's been no sign of any money and we've
had to go "in the hole" to get our car back on the road,
plus time lost from work, towing and phone calls.
This has been going on now since last June, so any
suggestions you can offer to help speed things up will be
appreciated.
Part of the delay was due to the fact that the application to
the Motor Vehicle Accident Claims Fund was not complete, but
since that missing information concerning the uninsured driver
has now been received, on early settlement cheque should be
issued in the very near future.

Last summer while on a vacation in the States, I became
suddenly very ill necessitating emergent), hospital treat-
ment.
I paid their itemized bill by cheque expecting to be re-
imbursed by OHIP when I returned to Canada, however
time goes by and all I keep getting is the run Around from
OHIP as they refuse to accept my hospital receipt or
cancelled cheque as proof of payment.
1 don't know why but they insist on me sending a signed
statement by the doctor who attended me in the hospital.
I've written this hospital three times now with this request
but have been completely ignored.
Can you help me get this refund which I'm sure I'm en-
titled to, or am 1 paying my OHIP premiums for nothing?
We have no explanation for the long delay in you getting the
necessary signed statement from the hospital, but we have been
assured that it has finally been mailed on to you, but just when
you receive it, is anyone's guess.

EXETER
former minister
By Bill Stewart,
Denfield
For the first time in over 14
years I've had the time to spend
visiting the "Show Window of
Canadian Agriculture" — the
Royal Agricultural Winter Fair.
While my previous official
responsibilities as Ontario
Minister of Agriculture & Food
always involved me in some ac-
tivities of the "Royal", I never
really had the time to sit down on
a bale of straw to chat with
livestock show people about their
interests and concerns in this
great agricultural food industry,
The beef breeding and market
classes indicate a trend to
longer, leaner, higher beef
animals with light or shallow
heart girth. I recall as a Jr.
Farmer being coached for judg-
ing competitions, we were ad-
vised to place great importance
on animals with great depth of
heart girth coupled with substan-
tial spring of rib. The purpose of
such conformation being to
provide not only a strong
physical constitution but a place
for the animal to store roughage
used to produce beef or milk.
The low grain prices of the late
60's and early 70's encouraged
almost total grain feeding of
beef, certainly in Western
Canada and in much of the
U.S.A. The result was too often
overfinished, wasty cattle car-
casses which the packer or meat
counter butcher had to trim
before offering to the consumer,
However, the cattle themselves
produced a very high dressing
percentage because of the com-
paratively light, straight middles
due to lack of roughage not re-
quired because of heavy grain
feeding.
New Federal meat grading
regulations have fortunately dis-
couraged the production of ex-
cessively overfinished and wasty
beef carcasses. But the light
middled cattle seem to be still
winning the top awards in many
of the market cattle and indeed
breeding classes as well.
This may be acceptable for
those who still feed substantial
quantities of grain. However, the
commercial feedlot operator,
particularly in Ontario, where
corn silage can be so efficiently
produced, needs a feeder calf or
yearling with sufficient "bread-
basket" capacity to use high
quantities of roughage to
produce acceptable daily gains
without using today's com-
paratively high-priced feed
grains. I sincerely hope strong
grain prices are here to stay,
particularly considering the high
cost of producing grain in today's
economy.
Several cattlemen with whom
I discussed this concern feel the
pendulum to the shallower heart
girth cattle has gone too far, and
must, because of economic
necessity, swing back to the
breeding and feeder beef animal
with greater roughage capacity.
Fortunately strong bone, length
of body, particularly loin and
hind quarters, seem to
characterize many of today's
modern beef breeding animals to
a much greater degree than a
few years ago. Purebred
breeders, without whom the
commercial industry could not
successfully survive, have
recognized the necessity to
change. Those who have done so
have contributed greatly to an
improved beef type animal,
Performance testing, under
Government supervision, in-
dicating rate of gain on feed has
also made it possible for com-
mercial breeders to learn more
about prospective breeder
purchases than the usual "eye-
balling" methods of a few years
ago. This year's beef, hog and
lamb carcass displays were of
excellent quality and reflect the
acceptance of the new Canadian
meat carcass grading
regulations.
Consumers could benefit
usefully from observing the sides
of beef, pork, and lamb on dis-
play appropriately indicating the
location on the carcass of the
various cuts advertised in food
stores. The degree of fat-to-lean
marbling necessary for flavour-
ful meat was displayed for any
consumer to see,
