first of two, before Huron Park

all night and came within eight
seconds of completing it until
sloppy clearing in front of the
Exeter net afforded them the
opportunity of putting in their
only marker of the game.
Exeter did as well and better
when they faced Goderich in
Goderich this past Saturday.
They completely dominated the
play, winning the game 9-1.
It took only forty-one seconds
for the Exeter team to get on the
scoreboard as Dave Bogart
deflected the puck into the net.
Jeff Fuller potted the eventual
game winner at 3:42 of the
period, just before Goderich got
their first and only goal of the
game.
Dan Bell got Exeter's third and
Brian Mercer, who took a pass
from Dave Bogart and split the
defence, beat a helpless God-
erich goaltender for the fourth
goal. Bogart and Mercer are one
of the most potent combinations
in hockey in this area and are
worth watching for the future,
The second period continued in
the same vein, with Exeter
getting three goals. Bell got his
second, Wayne Parsons got one
and Doug Brooks picked one up.
Had it not been for the out-
standing play of the Goderich
goaltender, who turned back
fourteen shots in the period, the
score could have been much
higher.
Brooks got his second of the
game in the third period and
Preston Dearing finished up the
scoring on an unassisted
breakaway goal.
Exeter outshot the Goderich
team 33 to 20 over the game, in
what coach Ron Bogart called
the "very best game of the year"
for his team. He cited the entire
team for their examplary effort
in the game.

so well against Byron, where they

Pee Wee "A"
The opening goal of the game,
by Ilderton's Frank Zurancic
spoiled Rick Fletcher's otherwise
flawless performance as Exeter
trounced the Ilderton team 6-1.
Exeter went into the lead to
stay with just under two minutes
to go in the period when Bill
Glover scored and Dave Shaw
followed up a minute later.
The second period saw only one
goal, going to Exeter's captain
Pete Tuckey who opened the
scoring in the third period as
well.
The scoring was completed by
Scott Balazs, who got twin
markers for the evening, Ilderton
had plenty of power play op-
portunities as Exeter took four of
the six penalties called in the
game.

capped by Wayne Parsons goal
that deflected in off the Dor-
chester goaltender's glove.

Dorchester goal as he skated past
it after taking a pass from Doug
Brooks.
The Exeter team came out in
full force in the second period,
scoring three goals. Brian
Mercer picked up one on passes
from Dave Bogart and Dearing.
He was followed by a goal by
Doug Fletcher on a low shot from
the blue line. Dan Bell rounded
out the scoring when he put one in

Byron snuck by Exeter 4-3 on
Sunday at the arena in a game
that featured penalties over
prowess on the ice. Twenty-one
penalties were called including
two misconducts, two game
misconducts and three majors.
Most of the rough play came in
the first period when sixteen of
the calls were made, seven of
them to Exeter,
Byron's J, Kuchta opened the
scoring on an unassisted goal
early in the first period. Exeter's
Paul Shapton tied it up ten
minutes later.
Byron got both goals in the
second frame, Kuchta getting his
second and R. Honsberger
coming up with a marker to give
Byron a 3-1 lead. Honsberger got
the game winner in the middle of
the third, before Clarke finished
off the scoring for Exeter late in
the game.
It was a high scoring affair
when the Juveniles returned to
league action against St. Mary's
in St, Mary's, as the home team
came up with a 9.5 victory,
Exeter got the opening two
goals from Jim Ferguson and
Paul Shapton before St. Mary's
got on the scoreboard with a goal
by Dale Dingwell. Exeter got
another marker from Mike
Desjardines before the period
ended. This finished'off Exeter's
lead in the play as the rest of the
game was all St. Mary's.
St. Mary's came up with five
unanswered goals in the second
period, two from John Baker, and
singles from Rob and Jim Staffen

Witnessess at
semi-annual meet
Members of Jehovah's Wit-
nesses held their semi-annual
circuit assembly on the weekend.
The theme of the two day
seminar was, "As For Us — 'We
Will Serve Jehovah' ". The public
address was presented by Keith
McCann on the subject, "How the
Kingdom of God Affects You." In
his discourse he emphazised how
the Bible directs our attention to
God's Kingdom. Jesus even
taught his followers to pray for
the coming of that kingdom,
40 which is already affecting the
lives of millions of people today
who are being made aware of it
through a worldwide educational
work, There are 35,000
congregations in more than 200
lands, distributing Bible
literature.
It was pointed out that this
kingdom of God is a real working
government which exercises its
rulership from heaven and will
soon solve the problems now
facing mankind by taking over
the affairs of this world; thus
restoring mankind to a fine
relationship with God.
The meeting place was the
assembly Hall, at Norval,
Ontario. This building, holds a
capacity crowd of 2,200 and is
used by witnesses in south-
western Ontario, It is a center of
Bible learning. The delegates are
aided to become more thorough
in their public ministry at these
weekend seminars.
In symbol of their dedication to
their God, 20 were baptized on
Sunday morning in the provided
immersion pool. The total at-
tendance for the discourse on
Sunday afternoon was 983, with
approximately 100 from the
Exeter area.
