The Lucan-Ilderton Jets
rebounded off their defeat to New
Hamburg to score a 5-2 victory
over the Preston Jesters in
Continental Senior A Hockey last
week at the Merton arena.
The Jets, who manager Don
Urbshott criticised mildly after
their defeat, came up with
what Urbshott called "a good
game." They never trailed
through out the game and Urb-
shott felt that the team "played
well,"
The game story was evident in
the first sixteen seconds, when
Don Carter opened the scoring
for the Jets with assists from
Rick Fifield and Terry Johnson.
Scott Graham deflected in a
shot from Bill White to give the
Jets a commanding lead at 8:12
of the first period. Just over two
minutes later Jaques Cousineau
took a shot that was stopped by
Recreational hockey; at one
point down to four teams, is now
running with a full complementlof
six teams, and a schedule that is
being completely revamped.
The two new entries are the
Crediton team and a team known
• as the Guess Who. They join the
already established teams of the
Ottawas, Les Pines, Algoma
Tire, and McLean-Passmore.
Over the past week, the four of
the six teams were in action with
wins going to Les Pines and the
Ottawas.
Les Pines trounced the
McLean-Passmore team 14-1, on
goals by Scott Burton, with four,
Paul Mason with two and singles
Even though the official
opening of the wrestling season is
not until today, Thursday,
November 27, a meet has already
taken place,
The South Huron Junior
wrestlers took part in an
exhibition meet in Fergus on
November 20. They lost the meet,
despite the fact that the Junior
Wrestlers came up with thirteen
victories in the twenty-nine
match meet,
Rick Rooseboorn/, Dave
Robinson, M. Birch, Mike
Westelaken,tPaul Ritchie, Mark
Paton, Brian 'Mayer, Brian
Thomson, Rick Skinner, Randy
Fisher and Darrell Preszcator all
won their respective matches at
the Fergus meet.
Preszcator won two matches
and took top honours as SHDHS's
best wrestler. The other
wrestlers who were singled out
for special attention were Rit-
chie, for his fifteen second pin
Jester goalie Stan Worosz and
Randy Roth picked up the
rebound and put it past him.
The Jets went to the dressing
room at the end of the period with
a 3-0 lead.
Paul DeMarco finally put the
Jesters on the scoreboard in the
second period. The period ended
With the score 3-1,
Steve DeGurse, the playing
coach of the Jets, got two goals in
the last frame to round out the
Jets scoring. The first one, on a
pass from Carter came on a
powerplay, The second one oc-
curred when he was left alone in
front of the net and he lifted a
back hand over Worosz.Johnson

goal,

going to Boomer McDonald,
Harvey Zeehuisen, AubFarquhar,
Ian IVIcAllen, Jug Lawson, Steve
Willert, Gurn Cornish and Ron

The Ottawas beat McLean
Passmore 7-2. No statistics were
available. Algoma Tire had a bye
last week as the Crediton team
was not ready to play. Since the
season is already two games
underway, Crediton will have the
opportunity to play two make up
games to bring them up to par.
The next series of games
scheduled is tonight, November
27, with McLean Passmore vs,
Algoma Tire, Guess Who against
Les Pines and Crediton opening
their season against the Ottawas.
that brought the fastest on the
team and Rick Skinner who was
considered the most improved
wrestler on the team.
The team's first official meet
will be against Listowel today.
They then take part in a Pre-
Junior Tournament sponsored by
the Ontario Wrestling
Federation. The meet will take
place at South Huron High School
and seAral schools from the area
are expected to attend. SH hopes
to enter fifteen wrestlers all of
whom must be under the age of
sixteen. The meet starts at 10:00
a.m. on Saturday in the new gym
at SHDHS, Wrestling practice
takes place every day from 3:30
to 5:00.
The win on Sunday leaves the
Jets in fourth place, batting 501
Percent on the season with five
wins and five losseS.
New :Hamburg, the Jets next
opponent on Thursday night in
New Hamburg have the same
record and are tied with the Jets
for fourth spot. In their last
meeting, the Jets lost 7-5 to the
hard hitting Screaming Eagles.
After Thursday's game in New
Hamburg, the Jets go against the
league leading team from
Durham. Durham is running with
an eleven win, two loss record
that leaves them well ahead of
the rest of the league. The game
starts at 7:3Q in the Lucan-
Ilderton Arena.

Mr. Zyluk emphasizes the
house leagues over the in-
tramural leagues because he
feels that more people can
become, involved in the house
league play as opposed to the
"one or two" in each class who
can make the teams.
Even though he emphasizes the
aspect of house leagues, Precious
Blood's intramurals have not
suffered, They won the South
Huron District Wrestling
Championship last year and were
in the basketball finals. They also
took the cheerleading cham-
pionship and have a trophy case
displaying their achievements.
For regular class training, Mr.
Zyluk converts his portable
classroom into a mini-gym and
offers a varied program corn-
parableto any school with larger
facilities. Many of the activities
that are done use a "crab-walk"
style of play. Crab-walking is a
form of crawling in which the
walker pushes himself up on his
hands and feet with his back to
the ground and moves about. By
using this method, which cuts
down speed and mobility, soccer,
floor hockey and races can be
held in doors. Because of the
space limitations, there are few
competitive events, leaving the
concentration on the skills of the
game rather than the points
gathered.
Basketball is practiced, usually
with the emphasis on the passing
and accuracy in shooting, but
games are sometimes played
using a can as the basket,
Dancing, both folk and
creative, is one of the mainstays
of the course. Folk dancing is
emphasized, and last year,
Precious Blood finished second in
competition.
One of the biggest programs at
the school is the track program,
Each participant has the chance
of winning a "Bigfoot" award
which is given after he or she
completes 50 miles on the
quarter-mile track that has been
laid out in the field.
Gymnastics, even in such a
confined area are carried out.
Mats are set out and there is
rudimentary instruction given in
tumbling and rolls. They have
even gone so far as to use a
trampette, a smaller version of
the trampoline to give the pupils
a taste of its use.
