Calvary United Church Women
held their November meeting
under the direction of the
Stewardship and Recruiting
group with Mrs. Harold Hendrick
presiding. The theme was
"Faith". Confidence was read by
Mrs. Hugh Boyle; courage by
Mrs. Cora Gaiser; accord by
Mrs. Syd Neeb; and un-
derstanding by Mrs, Wm,
Chandler. A poem "The Second
Mile" was read by Mrs, Don
Gaiser, "Wide Walls" by Mrs,
Hugh Boyle; and Brave by Mrs.
Hendrick. Each lady read
scripture messages. Mrs, Hen-
drick also read, "In Flanders
Fields".
Mrs. Mervyn Tiernan,
president, conducted the business
meeting. Twenty members an-
swered the roll call. Donations
were made to C.N.I.B., Leprosy
Mission, Children's Aid Society,
Bible Society, Crippled
Children's Treatment Centre,
War Memorial hospital, World
Relief, Victor Home, and
Mustard Seed Missions.
In the absence of the pastor,
George Tiernan read the
nominating committee report for
the election of officers for 1976.

Tieman; vice-presidents, Mrs.
Hugh Boyle and Mrs. Clayton
Merner; recording secretary,
Mrs. Jack Gaiser; assistant,
Mrs. Don Gaiser; treasurer, Mrs.
Wm. Chandler.
Group Three meets
Group Three with Mrs. Hilda
Rader convener was in charge of
the November meeting ,of Zion
Lutheran Ladies' Aid. The
president, Mrs. Arnold Becker
presided opening with a
Remembrance Day prayer,
Twenty members answered the
roll call with the result a nice
additional supply of tea towels for
the kitchen. Mrs, Harry Hayter
also donated two lovely coffee
pots. Several donations were
received. The Altar Guild
reported 15 visits, three flowers,
and two treats. The new Guild is
Mrs. Lorne Becker and Mrs.
Oscar Miller.
The nominating committee for
a new treasurer is Mrs. Lorne
Genttner and Mrs. Harry Hayter,
The December meeting will be
the Christmas meeting at which
time an exchange of a small gift
will take place. Visitors are
welcome.

Percy Kleinstiver who was born
and raised here had died at
Chicago, Illinois. Further details

Rev. & Mrs. Bruce Guy spent
several days last week at Wind-
sor last week visiting with the
former's mother, Mrs, Lela Guy.
Mr. & Mrs. Mervyn Tieman
and Harry Hoffman spent Sunday
at Richomond Hill with Mr. &
Mrs. Norman Evans also visiting
with Mr. & Mrs, Elgin Merner,
Kitchener, on the way home.
Miss Edna Willert, Mitchell,
was in town Tuesday calling on
friends.

GRANTON
Remembrance Day service
was at the monument and was
conducted by the Lucan Legion.
It was attended by the largest
turnout in years.
Cubs in full uniform paraded
from the Scout Hall to .the
Cenotaph. The Chaplain of the
Legion opened with prayer, 2
minutes of silence which was
preceded by the sounding of the
Last Post and later Reveille was
held.
Wreaths were laid at the base
of the monument by the Women's
Institute for the Province, of
Ontario, the Legion, and Mrs,
Geo. Lambourn,who lost her son
in the second war.
Rev, Mary Mills minister of
Granton and Saintsbury Anglican
churches spoke of the debt owed
to our dead heroes, and said it
was up to us to see that they had
not died in vain, and remember
this message, "We gave you our
lives to end hate and war and a
hope that peace might prevail."
Cub news
Following the Remembrance
Day service Tuesday morning the
Cubs returned to the Scout Hall to
eat their lunch. They were then
taken by their leaders Mrs.
Doreen McRobert and Mrs. Pat
Harlton, London to see "Blue
Water White Death," a filrn
depicting the hunt for the Great
White Shark.
Friendly Neighbors Club
The Friendly Neighbors met
Thursday at the Scout hall.
Some of the ladies are learning
the art of macrame, so belts and
wall hangers are taking shape,
Shuffleboard, crokinole and
card games were enjoyed,
followed by tea and cookies and a
social time.
A Sr. Citzens group in Lucan
have engaged the bowling alleys
there for Tuesday afternoons and
have invited anyone who is in-
terested regardless of whether
they belong to a Sr. Citizen's
group or not to join them at Lucan
Alleys for an afternoon of
bowling. If further information is
required phone 225-2522.
Church news
At the United Church, Rev.
Mary Mclnally used as an
illustration for the title of her
sermon "Bringing our lives into
focus, the story of Saul and'David
taken from Samuel.
In summing up her message
Rev. Mclnally said, "Unless we
have a special revelation from
God, we don't really know our-
selves, to see our image in
God's light, only He can bring
into focus, making the two
images one as a lens in a camera.
Flowers were placed in the
church by Larry Forrest and
family, in memory of his brother
the late Robert Forrest of Ailsa
Craig.
There was no service at St.
Thomas Anglican as the
congregation joined with the
Kirkton charge.
ACW meet
The November ACW meeting
was held Wednesday evening in
the Church Hall.
The president Mrs. J, Noon
opened the meeting with the
usual prayers, followed by the
scripture reading.
Plans were made for the an-
nual bazaar which is being held
November 29 in the Church Hall.
Lunch was served by Mrs. L..
Morely.
Bull in a shop
There was a bull in a shop, but
he was made of china, instead of
being in a china shop, he was the
subject of a raffle at Jacklin's.
Grocery Store, Lucky ticket
winners were Lloyd Mardlin and
Larry Pratt, Maybe they'll toss
for him.

new District Deputy
Mrs. Jack Youngson was in-
stalled as District Deputy at the
General Assembly of the
Canadian Foresters held in
Niagara Falls this weekend.

Explorer & C.G.I.T. news
C.G,I.T. girls are making
Christmas cake to be served at
the Vesper service they are also
busy practicing for this event.
The Explorers are making
puppets out of socks and are also
practicing for the Vesper service
when they will be taking part
with the C.G.I.T.

workshop held in Sarnia, called
"Colour Your World." Mrs. Marg
Carroll won the mystery prize
donated by Mrs, Hazel Davis.
Mrs. Kooy served, refreshments
after final plans ere made for
the banquet on Saturday evening.
The meeting closed with a
prayer.

Bob's birthday.
