OFFERS SIX INCH FIBERGLAS We'll help you save money on fuel bills CALL NOW 679-8922 LONDON Soccer teams finish season Soccer Houseleagues for the Junior Girls, Junior Boys, Senior Girls and Senior Boys ended recently, The following boys were on the team which won the Senior Boys competition: Peter VanLieshout (Captain), Jqhn Harrigan, Anthony Van- denHeuvel, Mark VanderPloeg, David Egan, The Senior Girls team was comprised of: Susan Huffman (Captain), Karen Williams, Linda Maslen, Teresa Corrigan, Josie Sentjens and Elaine Rooney decisively beat all of the other teams.JuniorBoys and Junior Girls played their games indoors in the gymnasium. The Junior Boys games were organized and refereed by Mrs. Verla Kelly our Grade 4 teacher. The following boys won the Junior Boys competition: John Breeders (Captain), Paul VanGeel, Danny Reymer, Paul Crunican, Michael VanderLoo. These same boys represented our school at a tournament held at the London Teachers' College. This tournament involved several city schools as well as other County schools, The boys gave a good account of them- selves winning one game and narrowly losing two games. In the Junior Girls' Houseleague at our school Jacquiline Van- denBoomen (Captain), Jackie Nyssen, Carol Manders, Linda Giesen, Evelyn Vanderminnen were on the winning team. They too participated in a tournament at the London Teachers' College. By coincidence the girls record at this tournament was the same as that of the Junior Boys. Mr. Veel ' who works as a parent volunteer in the school chaperoned and drove the boys and girls to the London tournament. UCW and St. Mary's Guild were guests of Lieury UCW last Wednesday evening when Jean Darling showed her slides about her work in India. Mr. & Mrs. Donald Thompson moved recently to their new home on the 16th of McGillivray. Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Morley were Sunday visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Perry Harris of Thamesford. Mr. & Mrs. Jack Trevithick attended the funeral of the lat- ter's aunt Mrs. Agnes McKeen from the Haskett Funeral Home, Wednesday. Bill Prest was home over the weekend with his parents, Mr. & Mrs. George Prest, Mr. & Mrs. Don Knapton of Thorndale were Sunday visitors with Mr,' & Mrs. Bill Fenton. Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Ferguson, Thedford visited on Tuesday with Mr. & Mrs. Ernest Ferguson. Betty Johnson spent the weekend with Sandra Jannsen, Woodham, Mr. & Mrs. Ken Zavitz, Thedford were Saturday visitors with Mr. ,i!,z Mrs. Ernest Ferguson. Margery Morley and Jim Foster motored to Hepworth on Sunday to pay their respects to the late Thos. Morley (who passed away on Saturday). Bob Armstrong, Ailsa Craig visited Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Ernest Ferguson. Mr. & Mrs. Larry Hern and Mr. & Mrs. Gerald Hern attended the Canadian Foresters Western Ontario Assembly in Niagara The Lucan Novice boys played host Friday evening to the boys from St. Marys. The Lucan boys, doing their best lost 4-2 to the visitors. The Lucan goal getters were Tim Shipley and Brent Bannerman, Saturday, the Lucan Novice team played Bemont here, The Belmont team were tough challengers beating the Lucan boys by only 3-1. The lone Lucan goal was by defenceman Lester Arts. The Lucan Atoms were also host to St. Marys on the weekend, The Lucan Atoms have two new goal tenders Brent Fowles and Eddy Hayter who played an outstanding game. Lucan lost to the St. Marys team 6-0 . These boys are getting closer each game. So watch out teams here they come. Lucan Bantams lose by one goal Lucan entertained St. Mary's as their guests Friday night. The Lucan boys never gave up fighting and by losing by only one goal put in a fine effort. The St. Marys team defeated the Lucan team by 3-2. The Lucan goals were by Ron Glenn and Bob Green. On Tuesday the Lucan Juveniles travelled to Lambeth. Cecil Nickles scored all three goals to defeat Lambeth 3-2, The Dorchester team visited the Lucan Juveniles on Wed- nesday evening. With too few players spare goalie Terry Hayter played out. A fine per- formance in his unnatural position resulted in a goal for him. Rick Freeman scored twice and Dean Dinsmore popped in a single. The final score was 9-4 for Dorchester, The Lucan Midgets hosted St. Marys on Friday night in Lucan with fine performances from both teams the final score was 2-2. The Lucan Juveniles Ken Holland got both goals. House League The first Bantam House League game resulted with 7-2 win for the Sabres. Marten Van Pratt scored 4, Colin Wildfong scored 2 and Barry Mills scored 1. The goals for the Eagles came from Allan Grace and Mike Nevitt. In the second Bantam House League game the Aces defeated the Hawks 5-1 The Ace goalgetters were Brent Straiton with a 'lair and singles by Dave, Cook, Bob Ross and Dan Thompson. The lone Hawk scorer was Paul Gilmore. The first Pee Wee House League resulted in a 0-0 score between the Blazers and the Thunderbirds, The Pee Wee House League second game gave the Lions a win , 6-0, over the Raiders. The Lion goalgetters were Don Liley with a hat trick. Darell Hodgins with a pair and Darin McFalls with a single. The goal tenders for the Lions were Mike Hayter and Ian Carroll. The third Pee Wee House League game finished in a tie of 1-1. The Bomber scorer was Brian Currah. The Baron goalgetter was Robbie Black. In the Atom House League game the Cougars and the Bears ended up a tie 1-1. The Cougar goalscorer was Paul Lankin, Joey Haygarth was the lone scorer for the Bears. In the final Atom House League game the Wildcats defeated the Jets 2-0. A pair of goals came from Daryle Edgington for the Wildcats. Jeff Alce was awarded with a shut out for his per- f orma nce. Lucan Cyclones The Lucan Cyclones played Grose Point on Tuesday evening The Big Lucan Machines sent Grose Point home with a loss. The hard hitting Cyclones defeated their company 6-2. Cyclone goal scorers were Larry Haugh, Vic Noble, Ken Needham. Ron Lindenfield, Brian Haskett and Bob Evans. On Thursday the Lucan Cyclones were guests of the Point Edward team. The Cyclones several men short, lost 13-8 to their opposition. The Forest team played host to the Lucan Cyclones on Sunday evening. With the Cyclones never giving up their fighting spirit the game ended in a 7-7 tie. A pair of goals were fired in by Larry Haugh and Bob Evans. The single notchers for Lucan were Dennis Burt, Dennis Carty and Bob McDonald. Flying Irish still winning Port Stanley played host to the Lucan Irish on Sunday night. With penalties galore, the Lucan players held their own. Lucan defeated Port Stanley 8-3 The Lucan Green Hornet Ed Robb came home with a threesome, a pair by Cecil Nickles and singles by Brad Taylor, Gary Herr and Jim Maguire. driver of the truck, Robert Mighton, was not injured. Const. G. N. Wilcox estimated that $400 damage was done to the truck driven by Mighton. Susan O'Neil of RR 1 Denfield suffered bruises when her car left the road and struck a ditch early Saturday morning. She was not hospitalized. Damage to the vehicle she was driving amounted to about $800, ac- cording to Const. 0. R. Vance. Early Monday morning a car driven by Jose Almeida of London left the road and struck a ditch. The collision occurred on No. 7 Highway at Highbury Ave. The driver received some cuts and bruises in the mishap. Township damage was estimated at $800 by Const. N. A. Campbell. A two car 'collision occurred at Highway 4 and County Rd. 16, in London township T,uesday evening causing $1050 damage. The vehicles were driven by Deborah Wyatt of London and Augustus Zigurs of RR 3 Parkhill. No one was injured in the collision which was investigated by Const. Vance. A total of 56 general, oc- currences were investigated by the Lucan O.P.P, detachment this week, Two London men will appear in provincial court in London, charged with theft in connection with a theft of two chairs out of the Shilleleigh Hotel Thursday with wilful damage in connection with an incident on Friday night when a lawn was damaged by vehicles being driven over it. The youths charged were from London Twp. and Lobo Twp. By GORDON MORLEY A euchre party was held Friday evening at the Brinsley Com- munity Centre. Mrs. Annie Knapton of St. Marys visited her daughter Mrs, Fenton, and Bill last week. s-,:Several ladies from Brinsley The Lucan detachment of the O.P.P. investigated six accidents last week involving two minor injuries and a total of $3800 in damages to vehicles. A horse, valued at $7000 was struck and killed on highway 4 last Tuesday. The horse, owned by Leroy Revington of Lucan, had wandered onto the road.
