The family of Mr, & Mrs,
Harold Tripp entertained friends
and relatives to a dinner and held
Open House afternoon and
evening in the Centralia Qom-
munity Centre on Saturday in
honour of their parents 50th
Wedding Anniversary.
Among the guests present for
the event was an 80 year old aunt
of Mrs. Tripp. Other guests were
from Belleville, Wellington,
Beamsville, Grimsby, London
and Exeter,
The family presented their
parents with gold family rings
and the couple were the
recipients of many other lovely
gifts.
Messages of congratulation
were received from the Governor
General and Madame Leger, the
Hon. Robert Stanfield and Huron
M.P. Robert McKinley.

progressing favorably in St.
Mary's Memorial Hospital and
we hope she will soon be home.

4-H news
For the seventh and final
meeting of the 4-H club"Taking a
look at yourself", "Les Belle
Femmes" met at the home of
leader Mrs, Michael O'Shea. The
girls discussed their project for
Achievement Day, "A Guide to
Personal Cleanliness".
Mrs. O'Shea talked to the
members on expressing self-
image through actions and
language.
A guest, Susan Prekup,
demonstrated. Yoga techniques.
The club will complete their
projects on Achievement Day,
Saturday, November 15th at Arva
Centennial School 9:15 a.m.

the Memorial Day Service on
Tuesday at 11 a.m.
United Church service,
At the United Church, Rev.
Mary McInally conducted the
service. Special speaker was
Miss Kerry Amos, chosen by
Middlesex Presbytery to go to
Japan this summer. Miss Amos,
gave an interesting account of
her experiences, said regardless
of their religion Japanese like
children to attend Christian
Schools to get a better education,
also the English language is a
compulsory subject in both public
and high schools.
At the close of the service Miss
Amos displayed articles she
brought home from Japan.
Mr. John Hariton, treasurer of
the Missionary & Service Fund,
gave a report, and reminded the
congregation they had pledged to
support a missionary nurse in
Kenya, and that contributions
were falling behind.

"A salute to vegetables" a
course on preparing vegetables
to make them more taste ap-
pealing was sponsored by the
Granton W.I. in the United
Church basement, Monday,
November 3.
Two members, Mrs. Donald
Roloson President and Mrs,
Norman Riddell attended the
leader's course in London
sponsored by the Home
Economics Branch of the
department of Agriculture and
Food, Thirty-seven ladies at-
tended at the church, which in-
cluded representatives from
Lucan and Prospect Hill
Institutes and other interested
persons in the community.
During the morning those
present were shown how to make
cauliflower soup, stir Fried
vegetables with Pork, Hot Crispy
Salad greens, Neptune Salad, and
for dessert, Surprise Zucchini

The theme of the meeting dealt
with Remembrance Day, Mrs.
Clare Bryan and Mrs. Walter
Jones gave readings in con-
nection with the theme. A slate of
officers was drawn up for the unit
in 1976. Mrs. Lottie Jones assisted
the hostess in serving lunch.

Dessert, These gourmet dishes
were sampled later and enjoyed
very much.
Much credit goes to Mrs.
Roloson and Mrs. Riddell for
their work and course's success.
Summary Day for "Salute to
vegetables" will be held at the
Union Gas Co. building Saturday,
November 25, 10 a.m.
St. Thomas Anglican
Rev. Mary Mills conducted
morning service at St. Thomas
and the text for her sermon was
taken from St. Paul's Epistle to
the Colossians Chapter 1: 10-12.
Church supper a success
A successful ham supper was
held Wednesday, November 5th
in the Anglican Church hail. A
large number in the community
attended Rev. Mary Mills and
Mrs, Jack Noon Pres, A.C.W.
received the guests.

camp-out at Sheldon Wood.

Unit one met at Mrs. Geo.
Squire's Wednesday afternoon
November 5. Mrs, Elmer Sum-
mers presided, led in worship
and conducted the business.
Lesson thoughts were on
Remembrance Day, reminders
of the sacrifice of lives through
conflicts, and that Jesus Himself
was the greatest example of
sacrifice. The Devotional closed
with the Lord's Prayer. Plans
were, made to have a Christmas
Dinner at the December meeting,
and members were asked to turn
in their mite boxes,
Mrs. Summers read a story on
"Remembrance Day in
England." Mrs. Clare Westman
and Mrs, Earle Middleton were in
charge of the program: Mrs.
Westman presented a paper on
the topic "Who is Jesus?" This
was followed by discussion. Mrs.
Middleton read a story "Mar-
ching with the Heroes. The
hostess was assisted in serving
lunch by Mrs. C. McRobert and
Mrs. Summers.
Unit three met in London at
Eldon House and following a tour
of the historical home, returned
to the home of Mrs. Clifford Cook
for their meeting. Mrs. James
Riddell presided and opened with
a poem "Autumn Days".
During the business, plans
were finalized regarding catering
for the Happy Gang Xmas
Dinner, and for completing the
quilt that is being worked dn. A
slate of officers for 1976 was
drawn up.
For the December meeting the
members will take their
husband to dinner at the Garage.
Mrs. Wilfred Garrett and Mrs.
Chas. Hayden were responsible
for the program.
Unit four met at the home of
Mrs. Kenneth Hardie, Mrs. Floyd
Dykes presided and led in wor-
ship, the theme being Remem-
brance Day,
Mrs. Dykes read a poem en-
titled "Remembrance". Mrs.
Wm. Lambert and Mrs. Nelson
Tate recited poems on "Pop-
pies". A completed quilt was on
display and plans were discussed
to make more. Program con-
veners Mrs. Harold Hardie and
Mrs, Kenneth Hardie presented 'a
program dealing with the topic
"Who is Jesus?", followed by a
discussion.
The hostess was assisted in
serving lunch by Mrs, Norman
