A neighbour and close friend is having one of those toy
parties in her home and I have been invited. I have never
ever been at one before, but have heard that they are
nothing but rackets, I feel obligated to attend this one but
'am certain that my friend is unaware that they don't have
a good name or reputation and I'm wondering if you could
supply me with some facts which I could give her and
possibly she will cancel this thing before it's too late!
/ haven't the slightest idea where or how you got your infor-
mation that, "All these parties, are rackets", because such is not
the case at all.
The hostess usually receives a small gift from the manufac-
turers' agent for the use of her home for an hour or two. The
agent represents the manufacturer, who is generally a well
known national firm, and apart from a few samples, works with
her firm's catalogue. The prices quoted from catalogued items
have to be competitive and Orel
The benefit of buying in this method is the convenience of a
friendly home atmosphere as opposed to busy stores. The disad-
vantage being, that the agent usually represents only one firm,
so consequently there isn't the same variety that a store offers.
Certainly, Madam, there is nothing illegal or underhanded in
this type of selling, and no one is high pressured into buying
anything that they don't want.

I realize that a lot of time has elapsed since this incident
but I haven't been able to get any satisfaction! on my own
so 'am seeking your help, please.
I purchased a gift of a blouse, for my sister in Saskatoon,
from a department store last May. As it did not fit, my
sister returned it to me andi took it back to the store, this
was in July. When I got there I discovered the exact same
blouse was now on sale for half price, anyway this didn't
bother me too much because they promised to credit my
account. This they did but only for the half-price amount,
and all my efforts to date to have this mistake rectified
have failed.
The store say that there is a ten day deadline for return of
women's apparel for credit, and are a bit puzzled as to why
someone took the blouse back at that later date. However they
do concede that since they did, it is their mistake, and also they
acknowledge the fact that in your particular case it would
probably be unreasonable to expect strict adherence to this ten-
day rule, so have agreed to apply the necessary credit adjust-
ment to your new account statement.

As a resident of a supposedly exclusive Hi-Rise apart-
ment I have complaints galore which' have all been com-
pletely ignored by the building superintendent.
It costs me $240.00 to live in this two bedroom apart-
ment where the carpets are dirty and the walls a mess.
Also, 1 had no hot water for quite a while plus the time I
couldn't park in our underground garage because of
repairs which seemed to take forever and a day, and, to
top it off there is no street parking in this area.
When the building manager was contacted he was less than
pleased about the allegations concerning the walls and carpets.
According to him the carpets are all in excellent shape, and the
walls were professionally cleaned last June.
A new garage door was installed by a crew, and the manager
says that the garage ramp was blocked for a total of only three
hours.
He strongly accuses you of being very Hyperbolic, (ex-
aggerating excessively) and he apparently intends to continue to
ignore your "unfounded complaints."
