Lucan council is investigating
the possibility of prohibiting
overnight parking on all streets
in the village,
The matter was brought up by
councillor Norm Steeper. Road
foreman Bert Thompson said his
staff did run into many problems
especially during snow plowing
and street cleaning operations.'
Councillor Larry Hotson
suggested the main problems
were encountered on the village's
side streets. Harry Wraith
thought the critical problems
occurred in the winter time with
snow removal and suggested a 2
a.m. to 6 a.m. ban on street
parking.
The matter will be discussed
further by council members.
Council took steps at Monday's
regular meeting to put a tighter
control on building permit ap-
plications.
A resolution was passed that,
"No building permits be granted
for application on any land
presently zoned agriculture in the
village of Lucan unless such
applications have the written
approval of council."
The village's newly worded dog
control bylaw was given final
reading and is now in effect,
Owners of dogs in the village of
Lucan will be required to pur-
chase a tag for their animals by
the first day of March in each
year.
The fee for each male or female
will be $7 and $10 for each ad-
ditional animal to a maximum of
two. For each neutered dog the
original tag fee will be $5 and $10
for each additional animal. The
dog kennel licence will be $25.
In reviewing, the dog control
bylaw, Reeve Ivan Hearn
stressed that the important
clause in the new law is that a dog
must be on a leash when it is on
public property and away from
the premises of its owner.
The final agreement on the sale
of a small parcel of land to the
County of Middlesex was ap-
proved. The village will receive
$261 for the land located at part of
Lot 31, Concession 3 in Biddulph
township.
A rabies vaccination clinic will
be held at the Lucan arena on
Monday, November 24 from 1:30
p.m. to 4 p.m.
A refund of $6 was made to the
Lucan and district Nursery
School which was the village's
share of the profits of a recent
draw.
Two village residents Gary
Mair and Mrs. Ron King com-
plained to council about the costs
of water for their swimming
pools. Mrs. King said she wasn't
really complaining about the $10
fee for topping pools during the
year.
This is one subject on which I
don't mind being repetitious and
that's to remind one and all to be
sure to proudly wear a poppy and
to make every effort to attend the
Remembrance Service being
held in youf community.
The Comrades being
remembered gave their very life
that we may continue to enjoy a
way of life that is second to none
in the world, surely as citizens we
can take a few moments from our
busy schedule and bow our heads
in a prayer of thanksgiving to
these gallant men and women
who thought enough of our great
country and our freedoms they
were ready to die for them. At the
Going Down of the Sun and in the
Morning We Will Remember
Them.

She added, "I'm juk com-
plaining about the principle of

then filling it in the first place.
The average charge in Lucan
