The Ministry in a letter to council stated that due to monetary restrictions it would not be possible to assist in paying part of the costs of street lighting at two eastern entrances to Harpurhay as requested some time ago by council. Ross Knight, London of the Ontario Humane Society visited the council meeting to discuss animal control in the township. He is to evaluate mileage and service requirements in Tuckersmith and report back to council. He said the Society is picking, up fewer dogs and of these 50 percent are beingreclaimed. This is an increase from 30 percent of a few years ago. Knight added, "People are getting more educated in the control and caring of pets." If varnished they will last twice the usual four or five years.
