Sewer hearing
— Continued from Page 14
in July so most of the taxpayers
in the village can vote," said Mr,
Skinner.
He suggested a more equitable
rate structure should be worked
out so that those cottagers using
their property only 50 days a year
should not be paying the same as
year round residents. He
suggested the sewers would also
discourage people who wanted to
retire in Grand Bend on limited
incomes.
Keith Gill, a land owner ad-
joining the lagoon site, protested
the system suggesting there will
be problems with the lagoon. He
said he had protested to the
Ministry of the Environment
about the possibility of flooding in
the area but came to the hearing
as the Ministry had not listened.
Gary Murphy of Detroit con-
cluded that there seemed to he
two groups at the hearing, the
first being builders, promoters
and real estate salesmen and the
second being cottagers or
residents. "I feel the second
group is being asked to pay for a
project that will benefit the first
group," said Mr. Murphy. He
stated that he was amazed at the
lack of concrete evidence
presented regarding the need
for an elaborate sewage system
in Grand Bend.
