In 20 minutes he arrived, and in the rain he worked for almost an hour to rewire the trailer harness and get us mobile by the light of car lights. It was after 11,15 p,m, when we left Exeter for Harriston that night very grateful that there are people like NerM, Gerry and his mechanic friend whose name I do pot recall Without their help my son would not have been able to get moved that weekend and we would have been greatly in- convenienced. In this day of increased com- petition we are all inclined to look for low price and ignore the service aspect of the sale when making a transaction, par- liculerly from businessmen in our own home town, The people of Exeter can in- deed by proud to have businessmen like Norm Whiting, Gerry MacLean and also meehanies like our mechanic friend from Hensall, who by their actions include service to the customer as major part of the transaction. We shall always remember their kindness and excellent service. Sincerely Frank D. Burgess P.S. As I recall the mechanic from Hensall operates a Fina station in Huron Park. T-A photo Development Day Huron Centennial Report Times-Advocate, October 16, 1975 Page 21 Thanks for good :service The Editor The Exeter Times Exeter, Opt. Dear Sir; On September 12 (the night the lights went out in Exeter) I drove pp from Chatham to meet my sop and assist him in moving front Harriston to Huron Park on Saturday, the 13th. My son had arranged to rent Norm Whitings 20' trailer to hook behind my car to do the job of moving. As we arrived in Exeter at 13;30 p.m. all was in darkness but we proceeded to the Whiting's store to pick up the trailer in the pouring rain, After making the hookup we discovered that the trailer wiring and my car con- nection were not compatible, the brakes seized on and the tail lights refused to work. Norm suggested we go to a local garage but they refused to help without electricity and said they were closing until Monday morning, We finally ended up at Norm's house where he proceeded to make numerous phone calls to obtain a mechanic, Jerry MacLean happened to be there for a visit and he made a call to a mechanic from Hensall who operates a service station in September 19 was Professional Development Day for the teachers, The staffs of Hensall, Seaforth, and Stephen Public Schools joined with our staff in the morning to hear represen- tatives from the Department of Education speak on the new curriculum guide book, "The Formative Years." In the afternoon, our staff visited the Board Office in Clinton, Mr. Smith, one of the county supervisors was our host. He explained the magnitude of the work done within the office by the personnel there, and con- cluded by giving the staff a tour of the building. A work period followed, when the teachers were able to use some of the facilities available such as laminating work cards and pictures, making overhead copies, or reviewing films. Marilyn Connell, of Clinton, has joined our staff as Teacher's Aide to Mrs. Gemmell in Kin- dergarten. , , If you to / ' I /1 ,t 1/4,.... We have a pregnant woman, 17-week unpaid her baby.
