Devotion, which ended Sunday
night at 8. p.m. was excellently
attended.
The home of Hubert and Laura
Carey was a hive of activity
during the entire Thanksgiving
weekend. They were visited by
their son, Paul, from London, Mr,
& Mrs. Donald Carey of London,
and Mr. & Mrs. Cyril Ducharme
of Windsor. They were also
visited by their daughter,
Geraldine, who took time out
from the nursing course she is
taking in Woodstock,The Carey
clan were also involved in what
might be considered a pre-
weekend celebration. A bridal
shower was held at the gym-
nasium of Our Lady of Mt,
Carmel School for Mary Eileen
Carey, the daughter of Mrs. Rita
Carey. The shower was well
attended by people in our area,
The household of Mr, & Mrs.
Charles Deitrich was as well very
busy on the Thanksgiving
weekend. They were visited by
their son, Joe, who now lives near
Ottawa, son Michael and his wife
Cathy of Ottawa, and their
daughter and son-in-law Eleanor
and Peter Eckert from Maryhill
a community near Kitchener.
Mt. Carmel's soldier Klaus
JerOpkin is once. ,more in the
news'; Klaus was able to get away
from the strict army life of Camp
Borden long enough to join his
family at their cottage up North,
over this past weekend.

By PAUL. SALMON
Although the busiest time over
the last while was the
Thanksgiving weekend,
something very special occurred
just prior to the weekend, Basil
and Marlene Glavin, of Mt.
Carmel became the happy
parents of their first child, a
daughter, Kelly Lynn. Born early
on the morning of Thursday,
October 9 at St. Joseph's
Hospital, Kelly weighed in at a
healthy eight pounds and four
ounces.
Also in the news are two very
proud grandparents, Mr. & Mrs.
Charles Deitrich of Mt. Carmel.
On Monday, October 6, their
daughter Jo-Anne, wife of Mr.
Richard Miregge, gave birth to a
five-pound: five-ounce little boy.
The Chatham couple have not yet
decided on a name for their son,
Miss Annie Van Massenhoven,
the industrious housekeeper for
Our Lady of Mt, Carmel's
Priests, is still enjoying a well-
deserved vacation in Belgium.
She and her mother, Mrs. Julie
Van Massenhoven of Bothwell
left on the three-week trip to their
homeland on October 2.
The Thanksgiving weekend
was highlighted by a special
forty-hour Devotion Service held
at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel
Church. The DeVotion was
preached by Father Henry of St.
Peter's Seminary in London. The
