Editorial Slam coming
Jt's arrived
I know it's hard to believe but, yes, the "Inkspot '75" finally
did arrive! After having been lost in the mail for countless
numbers of weeks, the yearbook staff was very pleased to an-
nounce that the Inkspot was on sale in the yearbook room during
the lunch periods.
The waiting students made the line-up seem endless but the ef-
ficiency of this year's Inkspot staff kept them coming and going in
a steady flow looking up names, taking money, and handing over
the long-awaited treasures.
For the next few days, books were seen everywhere. They are
silver covered and the theme is "You Are a Child of the
Universe."
"Paw prints" were in great demand. Books were being signed
on backs, walls, everywhere!
If you missed out on getting a yearbook this past year, do get one
next year, They hold a lot of memories that can be enjoyed from
year to year.

Your student council presents
to you from Hollywood California
A&M recording artists, Sym-
phonic Slam! Slam is a sound like
a fusion of Pink Floyd, King
Crimson, Aerosmith, Kraft-
works, Focus, and other such
bands.
Individual members of the
group have played with outfits
like The Rolling Stones, Cheech
and Chong, Bob Dylan, etc.
Symphonic Slam uses the latest
in electronic equipment such as
moog synthesiser, chamberlain,
mellotron, and the guit - organ.
This achieves a sound like you
have never heard before,
Their material is brilliant both
in lyrical composition, and
unusual style. They are one of the
few bands that sound as clear,
dynamic and balanced on stage
as in records.
The concert on October 17 will
be kicked off by a set by the band
Whitehorse, followed by Sym-
phonic Slam. It should be a
dynamite show. Hope to see you
there.

On Friday, October 3, the
annual Grade 13 biology trip to
Stoke's Fay got underway. We
boarded the bus and after a very
noisy and happy trip, we arrived
in Stoke's Bay. There we were
served lunch prepared by the
Women's Institute.
Vince Elliot, a former Science
teacher from Exeter met us at
the Community Centre on his
motor bike. From there we
proceeded to the Spruce Bogs
near the Bay. This was quite
interesting as walking on a bog is
like bouncing on a giant
mattress.
We were then told the history of
Gully's Bay, and then it- as back
to the centre for a delicious ham
supper. In the evening we visited
a haunted house, and then we
gathered at Elliot's cottage
where we sang, talked and had a
good time in front of the double
fire place.
Saturday morning was quick in
coming as we were up at 7, and
ready for breakfast at 8. After a
hot breakfast, we again piled onto
the bus and proceeded to a
portion of the Bruce Trail near
Cypress Lake, The hike was
great fun,
During this time we spent a lot
of time at Smuggler's Caves.
Here we all kept busy by ex-
ploring in all the cracks and
climbing the rocks. The weather
was beautiful and the fall colours
surrounding the crystal clear
blue water of Georgian Bay was a
breathtaking sight.
The clear view from the top of
the trail made it possible for us to
see the Chee-chee-maun taking
one of her daily trips to
Manitoulin, A few hours later it
was back to Stoke's Bay where
we were more then ready for the
hot turkey supper served to us.
Our feet might have been
protesting, but energy was still
flowing freely, as we enjoyed
square dances, polkas, and then
walked to an old Indian Burial
Ground with Mr. Elliot to tell
ghost stories. Back at the cottage
we shared another fun-filled
evening with great friends.
Sunday morning we were up
bright and early although not as
4 bright as Saturday, and after
loading all luggage onto the bus,
we were on our way home only to
make one more stop at Grieg's
Caves.
Well, all good things must come
to an end, and for our Stoke's Bay
trip this was only a few hours off.
The trip home was somewhat
quieter, but all our energy was
still not gone. A lot of laughs were
enjoyed especially when one girl
spilled milk all over her face.

Glenda Hoar, Theatre Arts,
English 250 and English 240 are
the classes in which Ms. Hoar
teaches.
It was in her high school years,
spent partially in Toronto and
also in Bramalea, that Ms, Hoar
first became interested in
theatre. Here she became in-
volved in musicals and took part
in a folk-rock blues band.
Ms, Hoar is a graduate of
U.W.O. where she majored in
English. She spent one year at
Althouse,
It has been Ms. Hoar's in-
tention to teach theatre since
high school, however, wishing to
establish a good, practical
background in the field she
decided to do some acting herself
before teaching.
She acted professionally for
two years with the Gallery
Theatre, the New Space Theatre
and with Theatre London's
Young Company. With the latter
Ms. Hoar performed in a War
Show last April which was one of
the highlights of her acting
career.
This is Ms. Hoar's first year
teaching. She is enjoying it very
much and feels that our school is
quite an enthusiastic one with a
strong, very efficient Theatre
and English department.
Other interests of hers are
poetry and playwriting as well as
singing, There is a possibility of
her starting a folk group or choir
in the school in the near future,
Ms. Hoar, With her congenial
personality and her talents will
certainly be an asset to our
school.
