Councillor Branderhorst said
some housing starts were
delayed in the Area because of
pollution problems, he added "If
.enough people are interested they
should ask Council for a system."
Council decided to leave the

The resignation of Gerry Salton
from the Vanastra recreation
parks and community centre

Council was annoyed that the
director's salary was not
established at an earlier date.
Deputy-reeve Irvin Sillery
commented "This matter should
have been settled at the begin-
ning."
Councillors Bert Bran-
dherhorst and Cleve Coombs,
members on the Day Care board
said they were not notified of the
meeting when the director was
hired.
She is asking for an immediate
salary of $8,000 with increases in
three months and a year to $8,500
and $8,990 respectively,
An additional staff member
would receive $5,100 per annum
and wages for support personnel
would be $2.40 per hour, Salaries
along with a cost of living bonus
The Lucan 4-H No, '3, "Mirror
Maids" held their third meeting
at the home of Mrs. J. Street-
mans, Lucan. The meeting dealt
with storage. Members studied
several ways to store their
personal possessiona, clothing,
jewellery and the basic rules for
proper storage.
The girls using their own
bedrooms as examples decided
where 'the problems were and
how they could be improved.

Middelkoop were recent winners
of a lottery draw,
Mr. & Mrs. Ed Turnbull at-
tended the wedding Saturday of
their nephew, Douglas Burt of
Douglas Point, son of Alf Burt,
and the late Mrs. Burt of Gore
Bay, Manitoulin Island, to
Kimberly Anne Radford,
daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Darwin
Radford.
The wedding was held at St.
Paul's Anglican church,
Southampton, with a reception
following at Hampton Court.

to her home in Toronto on Sunday
after holidaying a few weeks

Clandeboye couple
mark anniversary

Michigan.
Miss Debbie Williams, who is
attending George Brown College
in Toronto, was a weekend guest
at the Robertson home.
A school bus with thirty
children and three teachers from
grade three and four at Mossley
School toured the apiary at
Clandeboye and were shown the
means of production and
"Recessing honey.
Congratulations are in order
for Mrs, Blake Beck who won a
gift in the recent lottery draw,
Mr. & Mrs. Vanesta, Robert
and Dianne attended the horse
show at Delaware,
Miss Carolyn Hardy,
Ridgetown was at home for the
weekend.
Mr. George Cunningham is in
University Hospitaliwhere he has
had surgery performed on his
injured thumb.
Clandeboye No, 1 4-H club
had their third and fourth
meetings at the home of their
leader Judy Henry Monday night
when storage and how to take
care of clothing were discussed.
Meeting five and six will be a
joint meeting at the Clandeboye
United Church with all three
clubs on October 23.
Accidents and eye diseases
destroy the sight of six Canadians
every day of the year, states the
Canadian National Institute for
the Blind.
"Only research and common
sense eye care can reduce this
rate," they add.
Gifts made to the CNIB's
current campaign advances sight
conservation for all Canadians.
That campaign will again be
conducted in this area by the
Exeter Lions and some private
citizens. It will be conducted
Thursday, October 9 in Exeter
and Huron Park.
In Centralia, Dashwood,
Crediton and Usborne township,
the door-to-door canvass will be
staged over a period of several
days in the next two weeks,
Mr. & Mrs. Harold Hardy
celebrated their twenty-fifth
wedding anniversary with Mrs.
Hardy's side of the family with a
family dinner and get to-gether.
Thirty relatives brought good
wishes and Susan, Carolyn,
Lynda and Dave Hardy planned
the surpriie.,
