Also on the trip were Mr, and Mrs. Nelson Monteith and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Skinner of Exeter. *Fete bride at Brinsley By GORDON MORLEY A bridal shower was held last Tuesday evening in the United Church Sunday School room for Laura Lee whose wedding took place last Saturday. Mrs, Wrn. Fenton was chairlady for 4 program con- sisting of a piano instrumental by Karen Hodgson, reading by Mrs. Wesley Watson and contests given by Mrs. George W. Lee and Mrs. Wilbert Lewis. Mrs. Marjorie Steeper read the address. After opening the lovely gifts Laura thanked everyone. Refreshments were then served, Personals George and Cindy Prest and Cathy Hazelton visited with Mr. & Mrs. Mel Harris of Nobleton on the weekend, Mrs. Harvey Tweddle who was a patient in University Hospital was able to return home last weekend after undergoing surgery. Mr. & Mrs, Stewart McIntosh of Arkona were Sunday dinner guests with Mr, & Mrs. Harvey Morley, Best wishes are extended to Mr. & Mrs. Jim McDonald (nee Laura Lee) who were married in Brinsley United Church on Saturday. Mrs. George Prest underwent ankle surgery in St. Joseph's Hospital on Monday. Mrs. Harold Mawson is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital. By MRS. RENA CALDWELL The community was saddened by the sudden death of Kevin Pressey in a car accident on Sunday night near Clinton. Mrs. Robert Kinsman, Mrs. Grace Drummond, Mrs. Vern Alderdice, Mrs. Stewart Pepper attended the October Rally of Institutes. The roll call was a basic ingredient of bread. The name for the club is "Yeaster Bunnies." Mrs. Rader made white bread and the girls helped her put it in the pans. Personals Mrs. -Vernon Schatz, who has been hospitalized at St. Joseph's hospital, London has returned home following surgery. Mr. & Mrs. John Champagne and Roger and family, Caseville, Michigan visited with their aunt, Mrs. Hilda Wein who will celebrate her eightieth birthday this week. Mr. & Mrs. Herbert Bills, Cass City, Michigan, Mr. & Mrs. Russ Jacobs, Bay City, Michael, Brian and Julie Bills spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Albert Rader and called on their aunt, Mrs. Hilda Wein, John Hartleib, 85-year-old Michigan resident who was born., in Dashwood and has not been here for 12 years, was in Dash- wood Sunday visiting familiar places and noting the many changes here. His son, John, brought him for the day. Rev, 'and Mrs. Bruce Seebach and family, Kitchener were Sunday visitors with Mrs. Cora Gaiser. Jayne Hayter and Brian Rader accompanied John Barz and Becky Barz, Goderich to a Youth Retreat for young Lutherans at Angola, N.Y., over the weekend. Dr. and Mrs, A. C. Whittier and family, Mississauga, Susan Whittier, Toronto; and Maggie Whittier, London, visited with Mrs. Hilda Wein Saturday, September 4 and had a pre- birthday celebration for their mother and grandmother prior to Dr. and Mrs. Whittier leaving for Paris Sunday afternoon. Mr. & Mrs. Stuart Wolfe spent the weekend at Southampton with Mr. & Mrs, Gordon Eagleson. Laurie, Kathy and Joe Becker spent last week with their grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Ftahner. Mrs. Ray Rader, Mrs. Hilda Racier and Mrs. Martha Miller attended the Fail Rally at Belgrave, Monday when 140 ladies registered. Dashwood pair enjoy holiday touring Spain and Africa sites By MRS. IRVIN RADER DASHWOOD Bill and Nancy Becker have returned home following a week spent at Malaga on the southern coast of Spain. They ac- companied International Har- vester dealers and their wives from across Canada. They visited several places of interest to view the ancient cultures of Spanish history in Granada, Ronda and Marbella, They also went by hydrofoil to Tangiers, Morocco to view the African cultures..Particularly exciting was travel through the old streets of the Kasbah. 4-H club Club No. 2 of Dashwood 4-H girls gathered at Dashwood Community Centre for their first meeting of "Let's Bake Bread". Thirteen girls were present and leader Mrs. Ray Rader and assistant, Mrs. Earl Keller. Election of officers was as follows, president, Elizabeth Datars; vice-president, Teresa VanRaay; secretary, Barbara Rader; treasurer, Patti Rader; press reporter, Jayne Hayter. The girls decided to have their record books light blue duotangs. Roll call was, "What is your favourite bread?" Mrs. Rader discussed pioneer breadmaking, recipe files, and measuring. Mrs. Keller discussed record books and what goes in a loaf of bread. The leaders demonstrated how to make freezer bread. The girls sampled freezer bread made from graham flour. Next meeting is Monday, October 13 at Mrs. Joyce Vivian. Home assignments were ex- plained by Mrs, Vivian. She also reviewed the elements of design. Karen mahon demonstrated the satin stitch and its uses. Were discussed. Elizabeth Templernan showed how to do the sheaf filling stitch, Jill Norris and Michelle Riley demonstrated how to make a twisted cord while Mrs. Vivian explained the procedure. The members then practised these new stitches. Mrs, Jeffery presented an historical outline of embroidery covering the characteristic techniques and designs of the Aztec, Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Oriental, Indian and Italian cultures, Personals Tim Templernan, Essex, England, is visiting for three, weeks with Mr. & Mrs. Rob.
