HENSALL — ONTARIO
Hensall town council discussed
increasing vandalism in the
village during a meeting Monday
night. It was revealed that street
lights and windows are being
broken by children with pellet
guns and stones. There have also
been incidents of break-ins at
stores with merchandise being
damaged.
Council will attempt to find a
solution to the problem.
Council also passed a motion
requesting the Ministry of
Housing to conduct a survey in
the village to determine the need
. for rent geared to income housing
for senior citizens, The council
agreed to contribute seven and
one half percent of any losses
arising from the operation of
such housing.
Councillor Harold Knight,
reporting for the recreation
committee, said that progress at
the arena was being made on
schedule.
Leonard Erb will attempt to
find out the disposition of the
creek cleaning project.
Works superintendent Ernie
Davis reported that catch basins
have been cleaned. An ash tree at
McQueen's will be removed.
Sand, salt and snow chains were
requisitioned.
Council will investigate the
possibility of sharing in the
Wintario funds for expenses at
the arena.
Council were informed that if
.1100 percent of the village homes
hooked up to the sewer system,
costs would be much cheaper for
all.
It was revealed that one ap-
plication had been received for
funds available under the Home
Renewal Program and Dave
Sangster was hired to outline the
work to be done.
The reeve commented that it
would be costly to have a full-
time building inspector as well as
paying for the services of the
county plumbing inspector and
the hydro inspector.
Building permits were issued to
Rene Boogemans to construct a
sun deck and to S.G. Rannie to
removed old cupboards and
construct new ones. Dietmans
Bakery received a permit to
reconstruct the interior of a
garage.
Council approved the request of
clerk Bob Heil to purchase a
calculator. Prices will be
