Meeting two demonstrations on how to properly manicure, and care for the nails and hands. The St. James Anglican Church Women met at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Bob Hodgins, After reading by Mrs. Jim Cun- ningham, a lunch was enjoyed served by the hostess Pat Hodgins, Mr, & Mrs. Ken Carter, Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Carter and Mr. & Mrs. Pete Groenewegan celebrated with Mr. & Mrs. Andy Carter on their thirty-fifth wedding anniversary. Also present were Mr, & Mrs, Jim Meikle, On Sunday St. James congregation celebrated their harvest thanksgiving. The ladies decorated the church with many fruits, vegetables, corn and flowers, The Junior Choir girls sang with Mrs, Hill assisting. Rev. J. Holland reminded us to be thankful for the bountiful harvest. Personals Mr. & Mrs. Alan Hill and Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Lynn enjoyed their drive through Beaver Valley with the beautiful fall colours surrounding Collingwood, Mrs. Nancy Skinner and Nathan, London, spent Tuesday with Mr. & Mrs, D. Kestle. William Clare Simpson, life long resident of this area, died Wednesday after a short time in St. Joseph's Hospital, London, Mrs, Irene MacFarlane, Bruce MacFarlane and friend Joyce, Toronto, were Sunday callers in Clandeboye visiting with Mr. & Mrs. D, Kestle. Sixteen Lucan and area Cubs spent Saturday and Sunday under the supervision of the Cub Master, Mr, James Robertson, Janie Robertson and Janis Kestle and Bruce Cornish, south of Goderich camping and enjoying the wonderful weather. Mr. & Mrs. Hans )Rosch motored to Charleston, West Virginia and spent the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Green, friends of the Rosch's. Mrs. Dorothy Joyce Windsor, visited for a few days with Mr. & Mrs. R. Williams and Mrs. Lorne Derbyshire. They visited Mr. Derbyshire, in Kotrinka Nursing HOme, Mr. Derbyshire had. been a patient in Strathroy General Hospital. Mrs. Gerard Van Esta suffered a painful injury when an electric drill pierced her hand while she assisted with a project at her home. Miss Brenda Lewis, London, spent the weekend with her parents, Mr, & Mrs. A. Lewis. Mr. & Mrs. Arn Beake were guests at the Cunningham wedding in Crediton Saturday. Miss Pat Hodgins and Susan Hardy enjoyed the bus trip on Saturday with the Lucan Junior Farmers to Toronto where they visited Ontario Place and the new Toronto Zoo. Miss Laura Hodgins, Strathroy, was with Mr. & Mrs. A, Hodgins, Paul and Pat over the weekend. Training School was held at Exeter United Church Sep- tember 22 & 23, Celebrates 85th birthday Mrs. Hilton Ford was guest of honor at a family dinner Thur- sday, September 25 on the oc- casion of her eighty-fifth bir- thday. Twenty-four members of her family were present from Zurich, Dashwood, Exeter, Baden, Thorndale and Arthur. Following dinner, they gathered at Mrs. Ford's home where she lives, enjoying good health. IRVIN RADER Dashwood aviarist, Ray VanDorsselaer has been making a fine showing with his birds, At Exeter Fair, in the pigeon class, he had eight firsts, nine seconds and a third. At Bayfield Fair, in the same class, he had six firsts, six seconds, and two thirds. On Sunday,September 28th in London at the London and district Cage Bird Association com- petitions, Dashwood Aviaries received two trophies one for the best, cage of adult Bydgerigar, ,1 or commercial breeders; one for the best cage of young Budgerigar for Commercial Breeders; and a special prize for best in Red Eye series. His young daughter Susan also made a good showing in the Pet Class at the Fairs. Jack Guenther is a patient in University Hospital, London having been injured in a farm accident while picking corn. Mr. & Mrs, George Tiernan were guests of honor on the oc- casion of their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary at Dash- wood Community Centre at a reception for relatives and friends, Saturday September 27 planned by their children, Mr, & Mrs. Michael Tiernan, Janice and Gary, all of Dashwood. Dancing and fellowship were enjoyed. Miss Janice Tiernan, bride- elect of October has been honored by several showers. Mrs. Bar- bara Mclsaac was hostess for a gathered. She was reicipient of gifts and flowers. Personals Mrs. Edith Beierling spent several days with her sister Mrs. Katie Vincent, Grand Bend. Mr. & Mrs. Bill Adams have returned home following a 1,200 mile trip. They visited with relatives and friends, going as far as Ottawa and Cornwall. They spent some time at Peterborough and Toronto. Miss Susan Grigg who tending Mohawk College, Hamilton, spent the weekend with her parents Mr. & Mrs. Ivan Grigg and Mary Lou, Mr. & Mrs. Jim Lynn have returned home following their honeymoon and are busy getting settled in their home in Usborne, Mrs. Anna Kew, St.Thomas, spent Tuesday visiting with Mrs, Hilton Ford and her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Hank Green, Exeter.
