charged with possession of a
dangerous weapon, was con-
victed in Exeter court on Wed-
nesday despite a not guilty plea.
Three officers from the Exeter
OPP detachment testified in
court that they saw Webster
holding a razor to the throat of his
mother during an incident in
Zurich in August. Police testified
that Webster demanded a gun
and a car. He was later ap-
prehended and disarmed near
Varna and his mother, Martha
Webster was released unharmed.
Provincial Judge John Dunlop,
in convicting Webster, remanded
him in custody until October 6 for
sentencing. He ordered a pre-
sentence report be obtained.

Presbyteries In the United
Church and the most totally rural
of London Conference,
New lay delegates were then
introduced by their ministers,
who told Presbytery a bit about
them. They were an impressive
group of eleven. Obituaries were
read for Rev. Garnet Potter of
Auburn who passed away on June
3 at Auburn and Rev, J. Wilfred
Hird, who passed away on July
28. Presbytery also regretted the
death of Stephen Dundas,
Presbytery delegate from

Rev. Barry Robinson of
Thames Road-Elimville charge
led a contemporary worship
service which included dancing
in the church. His theme was the
importance of Christians being
playful as well as prayerful. New
happy Christian songs were sung.
As the Presbytery formed a line
behind him he led the "bunny
hop" down the aisle toward
lunch, to the tune of "Lord of the
Dance."
After lunch Alun Hughes of the
United Church Publishing House
in Toronto, spoke of the work of
handling the thousands of items
they now carry. The Don Mills
location has 13,000 square feet of
space. He stated that they try to
process all orders within 48 hours
but delays in mail sometimes
cause frustration. Mr. Hughes a

of general manager of the House
last year.

great success with an over-

and a superb address by Dr. Bob
McClure. The Belgrave Men's
Choir, directed by Rev. John
Roberts, led the singing and sang
two anthems. The committee in
charge, under the Conference
chairman, Rev, Maurice
Francis, was commended and
asked to consider another such
event.

other smaller events might also
be organized using local people
who have had missionary ex-
perience or visits to other lands.
