Sports column Enjoy play
in Stratford
This season there are a reasonable number of sports underway.
This list consists of football, boys' volleyball, girls' field hockey
and basketball and cross country. We all know that these sports
are being played, but do we know about who the opposing teams
are, where and when these games take place?
If we're fairly lucky, we may be able to find a small blurb on
the weekly memo, but we've made sure beforehand that our eyes
are accustomed to reading fine print. If we are even luckier than
usual, that "blurb" may find its way onto the daily announcement
sheet. But once it has made its appearance here, it seems that it is
significant only to the team members.
What about the outcome of these games? If the games are
lost, the "uh-scores-uh" are hidden somewhere amongst other
criteria. The "Sports Info" column is going to hopefully supply
some of this information to those who attend this school. It is fair-
ly obvious that the football scores won't have to be done in any
great detail because a fair cross-section of the school makes it to
the games.
The same can be said for cross-country - "thanks" to some of
the members of the team, who make winning the meets possible,
because the outcome is always put over the P.A. (although we can
agree that it isn't the easiest sport to watch!
But for those teams that can be watched (but usually aren't)
we plan on helping you rise into the spotlight. If you find that
you're being neglected, let us know. We're trying to be helpful!

Once again, on the evening of
September 24 the Theatre Arts
classes of SHDHS enjoyed the
privilege of tavelling to Stratford
to view the Shakespearean play
"Twelfth Night."
Most of these students were
able to obtain some of the best
seats; however, there was such a
demand for tickets to see this
play that more had to be ordered
of a lesser value,
Nevertheless, everyone, no
matter where they were sitting,
thoroughly enjoyed the play.
There were comments the
Malvolio, Olivia's steward,
overacted his role somewhat and
played to the audience for all the
laughs he could get,
Viola, disguided as the duke's
page, played her part extremely
well, All of the cast generally put
forth a great effort. It is certain
that everyone who attended the
play felt it was money well spent, G & G Concrete

YACMR? What is it?
This is probably the reaction of
many Grade nine students or for
any new students this year. The
name YACMR stands for Youth
Across Canada with the Mentally
Retarded.
This year our president is Judy
Mickle, she replaces Martin Van
Raay. We plan to change our
executive yearly to give• many
people the chance to help in the
planning and running of this
organization.
Our plans for the near future
include the visiting of ARC
Industries, which is the adult
association for the mentally
retarded and Huron Hope which
is the school the children attend.
This year as a fund raising
program we are selling Christ-
mas cards, This money will be
used to further our programs for
the mentally retarded.
If anyone is interested please
come out to our meetings. They
will be announced and are
usually held in Room 203.
Your help will be greatly ap-
preciated by us and by the

In the school we have some
clubs that everybody knows
about but no one ever hears
about. One such club is the Senior
Outers. This group always has
lots of fun planning outings such
as the Bruce Trail,
They are a little disorganized
at the moment, but hope to
establish weekly meetings.
Senior Outers, Cheryl Chapman
says "about the only comment I
can make now, is that we need
new members." Their staff
advisor, is Mr. Mills.
Another such club is the chess
club which is held in room 112
every activity period as well as
periods three and four. On
Thursday a new slate of officers
were elected for the '75-76 school
term. They are as follows: Kevin
Shiels, president, Tom Duttman,
vice-president, and Jim Pollock
secretary.
The club plays in a league

Change classrooms
During the summer while we
were taking a break from school,
changes were being made as to
the location of several
classrooms.
Most of these changes were
made primarily to allot the
Theatre Arts classes a larger
room. Any other relocating
followed as a chain reaction.
The new Theatre Arts room is
Room 89. The students have
much more room in it and the
ceilings are higher. It is very
sparsely furnished and the floor
As covered with mats. The old
'janitor's office next door to it
serves as a dressing room and
costume storage.
As RoOm 89 used to be where
architectural drafting was taught
a new drafting room was
established in Room 107 thus
eliminating a geography room.
This drafting room is much
better in its new location because
it is joined to the other drafting
room by a door.
The eliminated geography
i-oorn was put in Room 106,
almost across the hall. The P.E.
classes that used to meet here
have been shifted upstairs to
Room 216.
Since the old TheatreArts room
was uninhabited, the Student's
Council took it over. The cubby
hole at the end of the upstairs that
used to belong to Student's
Council is the janitors' office,
thus completing the chain
reaction of room relocations.
