Early in January '76, the
Pentecostal Holiness Church of
Canada plans to open a Bible
School in Ailsa Craig. The
church has recently purchased
the old home formerly used by
Craigholme Nursing Horne on
James Street in Ailsa. Craig to'be
used as a residence for the
students attending the Bible
School,
The Bible School has rented the
upstairs classrooms in the for-
mer Ailsa Craig public school
where they anticipate holding
regular classes, Ron Donovan,
presently of Chatham, will act as
administrator of the Bible School,
In addition to his ad-
ministrative duties, Mr. Donavan
will also do some teaching along
with two other full time staff
members, Doug Barton of
Toronto who will re-locate in
Ailsa Craig shortly, and Mrs. B.
Crouch currently in Alberta.
The Rev. R. Brewster of Lucan
will be available to conduct
seminars periodically. In ad-
dition, two consultants from the
United States will also be
available,
The school expects to have an
enrollment of 20 to 25 students
ranging in age from 18 years
upwards. They will undergo nine
months of intensive training and
studies before they embark on
field service in churches for their
practical experience. It is the
hope of the Bible School to be able
to conduct evening classes as
well for any interested persons in
the area.
The old home was originally
owned by Col. J, H. and Mrs.
McKay. In 1950 it was purchased
by the Nairn Mennonite Church
and Craigholme Nursing Home
was started. In April of this year,
the Nursing Home moved to their
new accommodation on Main i
Street. This month the large, old
home was purchased by the
Pentecostal Church to enable
them to begin the Bible School,
and open the campus in Ailsa
Craig.

Saturday, September 27 found
Nairn a busy little community as
a new business enterprise held its
official opening.
The Nairn Sports Centre is
located immediately adjacent to
Macdonald's Snack Bar and
Sei'vice Station (formerly
Elliott's).
How did a snack bar and ser-
vice station expand into a Sports
Centre?. When Gordon Mac--
donald recently purchased the
business from Mrs. Elliott, he
found himself selling a few pairs
of second hand skates.
From that simple business
transaction he received inquires
about hockey pants, then other
hockey equipment, etc,, until the
need for a sports outlet in the
team in the Ausable Industrial
league.
Neil and his wife, Judy, have
two children — a girl Toni, 18,
and a boy, Gregory who is 10.
The Sports Centre will be open
daily from Monday to Friday
from 4 to 9 p.m., and from 9 to 6
on Saturdays.
area was clearly revealed.
In partnership with Neil Lloyd
of Nairn, Gord Macdonald
renovated the old tire and repair
shop connected with the service
station. The 12'x25' area now
holds an attractive assortment of
hockey equipment, sports
clothing, team trophies, skates,
etc.
"By spring we hope to be able
to enlarge the area, making it
about three times as large as it is
right now", Gord reported.
"We want to expand into
fishing, tennis, golf, soccer and
baseball lines as well".
Arriving in Nairn only last
May, the Macdonald family came
from Dublin, near Mitchell.
Gord's wife, Julie, runs the snack
bar. They have four children,

our son wants a talking budgie for his birthday and the
problem is that, neither his Dad or I know the first thing
about them, except that they don't all talk!
How do we go about getting one that should talk? If we
get one that doesn't I'm afraid it will be a disaster in our
house. >.
Any tips about where to buy or what to look for in a
budgie will be welcome.
We certainly don't claim to be experts either, on the subject of
budgerigars, but we did talk with a breeder and obtained the
following information which we pass along hoping that it may
be of some help to you.
(1) Buy a male budgie, the piece at the top of their beak will be
blue as opposed to brown.
(2) Six weeks old is the recommended age to get one for train-
ing to talk. '
(3) Patience is a MUST because you will have to be prepared to
repeat the same word over and over for quite a period of
time. Once the bird parrots that first word then apparently
other words and phrases usually follow quite rapidly.
(4) Buy from a dependable pet dealer or breeder, You can also
pick up books on the subject of talking budgerigars. Prices
vary, but usually a young male bird costs a little more.

Last May I ordered camping equipment from a Mail
Order House in Chicago. The only way I could get delivery
was .to pay in advance, a practice I'm not keen on,
however as it seemed like a good buy, I complied with this
arrangement and in due course my order arrived, minus
three sleeping bags.
Naturally I wrote them immediately and since then a
regular correspondence has flourished between this firm
and myself. Their letters are always the same, "The
original order has been misplaced, but we are looking into
it."
I'm well aware that the camping season has long gone
for this year, but nevertheless I want what I paid for.
Can "IMPACT" please help to get this straightened out
once and for all?
Your missing order form has finally re-appeared and we are
in receipt of a copy of a letter sent to you, apologizing for the
delay and stating that, "your sleeping bags have now been
shipped."
"IMPACT" would like to remind it's readers that purchases
by Canadians for delivery in Canada from American Mail Order
firms are sold strictly cash in advance.

A year ago now, (September) my husband passed
away and 1 stored all my furniture and household effects
with a Toronto mover, coming to live on a temporary basis
with my sister, here in Exeter.
I have now gone ,on my own, but when the mover
delivered my stuff, I round several items to be missing, in-
cluding a nearly new stereo.
I haven't been able to get any satisfaction, let alone a
settlement from this firm and I'm at my wits end as to
know what to do, because try as I, may I have been unable
to locate the storage copy I got from this firm when they
moved me. I do hope you tan help. '
The news we have concerning this firm is not good! There are
many complaints against it on file with the licensing Commission
and we are told that "it may not be long before this mover is out
of business." They are known to be very careless about storing
articles, and they also often use other movers' warehouses for
storage.
The only advice we can give you at the moment, is to consult
your lawyer without delay!
