Paul Hoggarth was the winner of
the boy's race. Joanne Jarvis
kicked the slipper the greatest
distance.
The "Three C's" couples club
gathered for their family picnic
at the home of Al and Margaret
Hoggarth. Nineteen attended.
Rev, W. D. Jarvis guessed the
number of screw nails in a jar,
Phillip James guessed the
number of beans in a jar. Dorothy
and Bob Taylor won the church
bingo. Jean Jarvis guessed
correctly the number of items in
an egg. Jim Dougall outsmarted
everyone with his knowledge of
the townships.
In children's sports, David
Dougall guessed the number of
candies in a jar. He was also the
winner of running races for his
age group. Sheila Dougall won
the race for the tot's race and
The next get-together will be a
Hallowe'en costume dance in
Staffa Hall on Tuesday, October
28.

to her home this week following
surgery in University Hospital,
London.
Mrs. Annie Cole is a patient in
South Huron Hospital where she
is receiving treatment.

returned home on Saturday from
a pleasant holiday when they flew
to Calgary and visited Lake

Birmingham, Michigan, visited
last week with Mrs. F, G. Bon-

at Staffa Institute meeting

STAFFA
Mrs, Gordon Laing demon-
strated cake icing and decorating
at the Education and Cultural
activities meeting of the Staffa
Womens Institute held in the
township hall.
Mrs. Gordon Parsons ex-
plained the duties of the township
library board and informed
Mrs. Spencer Jeffery explained
the uses of the twisted chain
stitch. Mrs. Vivian discussed how
to choose a free choice article and
fabric with regard to suitable
colour, pattern and design.
Marion Smale demonstrated
the couching outline stitch and
Ruth Jeffery demonstrated' the
cross couching outline stitch.
Mrs. Vivian demonstrated how to
do the couching outline stitch on a
curved design. Each girl prac-
tised these stitches.
County Home Economist, Mrs.
Nancy Ross showed slides of
various free choice articles. By MRS. RENA CALDWELL
The Agriculture meeting of
Kippen East Womeris Institute
will be held at the home of Mrs.
Charles Eyre on October 8 at 8:30
p.m. The roll call will be "Name
a product we would lack if the
farmer never came back." The
motto and current events will be
given by Mrs. H. Caldwell. Mrs.
Grant McLean has charge of
lunch. The guest speaker will be
Don Pullen from the Agriculture
office in Clinton.

Dublin W.I. members are to be
invited to Hard Times party on
October 29.
Mrs. Charles Douglas presided
and read a poem on Kindness,
Mrs. Ron Pinder entertained
everyone with several accordion
selections. Mrs. George Vivian
reviewed several outstanding
Canadian Women, namely Anne
Murray, Karen Magnuson, Emily
Carr, Kate Reed,, Pauline
Johnston and Lucy Maud Mont-
gomery.

Holland, who has been visiting
with Mr. & Mrs. Rodger Hoor-
