Lori Rowe Betty Guenther Kathy DeJong Janice Spurn Susan Brintnell Heather Dougherty Susan Morgan Judy Miller • Exeter Fair queen contest 1 1 pretty entrants A total of 11 lovely Exeter and district girls will be competing on stage at the Exeter arena Friday night for the honour of becoming Miss Exeter Fair for 1975. The new Queen will be crowned by last year's winner Karen DeJong of Centralia. Karen's twin sister Kathy is one of the contestants. This year for the first time in the history of the Fair Queen contest the contestants have been asked by the judges to make an impromptu speech. They will be judged on their ability to speak on a subject which they will receive only moments before along with appearance, poise and per- sonality. Pictures of the Queen con- testants appear on this page along with pictures of the same girls when they were babies. Answers to the match-up of the Queen contestants and their baby pictures appear on page 14A. Area girls competing in this year's queen contest at the Exeter fair will receive a variety Dairy Princess chosen at Fair The annual Huron County Dairy Princess competition will he part of the Exeter Fall Fair Saturday afternoon. Three girls from Huron will be competing for the Dairy Princess honours and the winner will represent the county at the 1975 Canadian National Exhibition dairy judging, The three entrants Saturday will be Janet Gielen, RR 2 Crediton, Mary Beth Downey, RR 5, Seaforth and Fran Logtenberg, RR 1, Dungannon. The contest actually starts for the three girls Saturday morning when they will be in- terviewed by the judges. They will be riding in the Fair parade at 11,30 a.m. The afternoon portion of the contest will be involved with speeches and actual milking of 'cows. The competition will be held in the arena and the af- ternoon portion is expected to begin about 2.30 p.m. Representing the sponsoring body, the Huron County Milk Committee will be chairman Stu Steckle, Zurich and vice- chairman Eric Finkbeiner, Crediton. Promising music show Area musicians have again responded overwhelmingly to the country and western music show to be scheduled this Sunday as a wind-up to the local fair. Over 15 groups are expected to be on hand for the event which starts at 1:00 p.m. in the arena and runs through the afternoon. The musicians donate their services and the proceeds will be turned over to the committee investigating the possibility of , building a sports complex for the area. Some of the bands indicating they will be at Sunday's show are as follows: The Desjardines, Joe Overholt, Blue Moons, Country Wally, Roger Quick and the Rainbows, Al Harvey and the Blueboys, Mozart's Melody Makers, Country Folk, Heywood Brothers, Country, Sundown, Gary Boyle, Ed Lesperance Trio, Ray Cooper, Midnight Specials and the Bluewater Playboys. A dozen red roses will also go to her, compliments of Exeter Flowers. Every contestant receives $5 from the Exeter branch of the Royal bank, a case of Bestline Products, cosmetics from Maurice and Jean Love and a color photograph from Ross Haugh. Other prizes and gift cer- tificates for the runners-up are from: G&G Discount, Bestline Products, F.A.
