In Harrow, Saturday afternoon the Crediton club dropped a close 6-5 decision to the home club and Sunday afternoon in Dashwood they squared matters with a decisive 11-2 victory to force a third and deciding game, Crediton manager Lorne Preszcator told the T-A this week that the winner of Saturday's game would probably advance to the OBA finals. Alliston and Lindsay were participating in one series and Pembroke had received a bye to the next round. It is expected Pembroke will be sent against either Alliston or Lindsay. In Sunday's contest, the Crediton youngsters scored four runs in the first inning and were never seriously threatened as they rolled to the 11-2 win over Harrow. Paul and Perry Pooley each doubled in the first inning to provide most of the power for the Crediton rally. Adding singles were Jerry McCann and Darrell Preszcator. Jerry McCann and Randy Fisher singled to score the fifth Crediton run in the second and Perry Pooley and Dennis Preszcator delivered one base blows for another score in the third. The Preszcator boys teamed up to produce the seventh Crediton marker in the fifth. Darrell doubled to open the inning and after one batter was retired Dennis also doubled. The final Crediton runs were chalked up in the bottom of the eighth on two walks and four solid base hits, John Nedza and Jerry McCann walked and rode home on a double by Randy Parsons. A new Harrow pitcher came in at this time and he was promptly greeted by Paul Pooley's triple. Paul was able to score when brother Perry singled. Paul Pooley went the full distance on the mound for the winners. He gave up eight well scattered hits, His mates came through with two double plays to help the cause defensively. Saturday in Harrow the home team was able to score the Winning run in the eighth inning as the result of a Crediton error to post a 6-5 decision. The Royals hit the scoreboard in the last of the third as Jim Pfaff led off with a single, Brian Hodgins followed with another single and Doug Pearsons single and Ray Lumsdens bunt scored the two runs. Then in the fateful fifth inning the Irish scored four big runs as Brian Hodgins walked three, hit one batter and gave up a single to Kevin Lightfoot, The score remained 5-2 as Exeter couldn't mount another attack against the offerings of Lucan hurler Brian Lightfoot, Lightfoot pitched a strong eight game allowing six hits and striking out eight batters.
