This special Sunday was a great success with an attendance of 106, This was 10 people over the goal. The goal has now been changed to 125. The morning sermon was taken ff'om Luke 14 where Christ is being tempted in the wilderness after fasting forty days. Jesus could overcome these temp- tations because He was led into this wilderness experience by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit leads God's people into the wilderness as well and we like Christ can stand if we are also lead by the Spirit, In the evening service Joan Lockyer sang a solo. The sermon was taken from Hebrews 13;15. "By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God con- tinually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name," It is important for us as God's people to Praise God; that is, thank God and Praise God for what He has done, is doing, and will do in the future. When it becomes hard for us to praise God, we need to still praise Him. This is where it becomes a sacrifice of Praise, as the verse is speaking about. Praise is the key to knowing and growing in God. Special services are being held September 20 and 21. These are to commemorate the 20th an- niversary of the church 4pening in Lucan.
