He will appear in court on the charges at a later date. Friday night at 6,45 p.m. come up with the answers for the year 1974, just to give you some idea. Here goes. You, as members of Branch 540, Royal Canadian Legion and their Auxiliary, sponsored the following for the youth and citizens of the community: atom hockey 3-day tournament; hockey at all levels; t-ball; fast ball; figure skating; essay contest; public speaking contest; Santa's children's Christmas party; Santa's retarded children's Christmas party; sponsored Santa for other groups and churches; Christmas parcels for the needy; children's summer picnic; donations to the Cubs and Brownies; supplied a trip to Niagara Falls for the Senior Citizens; participated in the Westminster Hospital carnival; contributed to the Westminster Hospital pub; children's snow vehicle ride party; contributions made to the Provincial Bursary program. For the sports minded mem- ' bers and guests, there were the ,:tolltowirig:% golf, horseshoes,,,, cribbage, euchre, darts and shuffleboard. All this costs money, and in 1974 a total of a little over $6,825 was spent on the above- mentioned program. It should also be pointed out that Branch 540 is a hefty tax payer in the municipality and an employer with a payroll to meet every two weeks. There is also the cost of maintenance and etc. All this is in addition to the program cost, Moreover, branch 540 in con- junction with the Ontario Com- mand have trained personnel who supply a free service assisting Comrades with any problem they may have, be it Disability Pension, War Veterans' Allowance, or anything at all that has to do with Veterans Legislation. These things just don't happen they are all made possible by By SID DALEY Our District Commander, Comrade Roger Holmes, has declared the week of Sunday, September 14, to Sunday, Sep- tember 21, "LEGION WEEK", throughout District A. As you are well aware, the Lucan Legion is a Branch within this District. We have been asked to come up with a program in, observance of Legion Week and the decision of your executive is as follows: Sunday, September 14, we muster at the Legion Hall at 1:45 p.m. that we may start the week off with a church parade to the Ecumenical Service at 2:30 p.m. at the Lucan Arena. All members are urged to attend on parade and let the town folk see and know we are truly proud to be members of such a great organization as the Royal Canadian Legion. Incidentally, our Branch- sponsored Cadet Corps has been invited to parade with us, and Comrade President is attempting to get a pipe band to supply the marching music. Wednesday, September 1,7, during the evening, we will be holding an open house at the branch, to which everyone is invited. We want the citizens of Lucan and area to see just what we have to offer. They will be invited to participate in card games such as cribbage, euchre, or whatever they desire, such as horseshoes, etc., and it is hoped that we will have a large turnout of members to welcome our guests and help entertain them. On Saturday, September 20, a dance will be held in the main hall, At a recent executive meeting, the following question was posed, "Do the Members of Branch 540, or for that matter, the citizens of Lucan, really know what the Lucan Legion Branch really does for the community?" As a result of this question, we• delved into our ledgers and minute books to WISEWAY HOME & BUILDING CENTRE UNTFIY FI NER STORES MT.
