60,000 voices can't talk back.
The Ontario government has ;silenced its employees.
Our job is to provide services to the public. We work in colleges,
hospitals and offices. We drive snow-plows, inspect your food anc protect
your environmental rights.
The irony is that we have few rights ourselves. Many of us feel we
are being used by the government.
Take for example the last budget. The government attempted to
woo your vote by cutting back on the civil service.
This will save taxpayers a fifth of a cent on their tax dollar. That
isn't even a pittance when you consider that the budget calls for over
S10 billion of your money.
You see, to the government we are political pawns.
And that's not good,
People who work with retarded children, the sick anc the infirm,
those who run our correctional centres and inspect our food
have been cut back,
Public services will suffer.
But the government won't let us take part in the democratic
process to bring about change,
For us that is illegal.
We can't canvass for a candidate. We can't speak or write oublicly
on any party's platform, We can't talk about the real issues.
We have fewer civil rights than other citizens All we want is equality,
And that won't cost taxpayers a cent.
We hope that you will vote for civil rights . equal rights fore everyone.
We only want to be heard.
Whose rights go next ?

DALEY'S WEEKLY COMMENTS
Dedication
By Sid Daley
Talk about dedication (Ahem)
branch 540's horseshoe tour-
nament went on as scheduled
despite Saturday's downpour.
The damp but nevertheless
jubilant 1975 champions are
Danny Gwalchrnai and Danny
Stuckless. The runners up were
Dick Worthington and Carl Neil.
Despite the turbulent weather a
fine time was had by all.
Congratulations are in order for
sports officer Russ Carter for the
complete success of our first
amateur night. The performers
played to a packed house. It was
a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
It has to be one of the best times I
have had in a long time.
Young Bob Stuckless received
a standing ovation, for his per-
formance with the drums. Move
over Gene Krupa, Bobby is on his
way!! There were many other
acts - followed by a corn fest and
pot luck dinner - just a super
evening and I'm certainly looking
forward to the next - Keep up the
good work, Russ.
The winners were tied for first
place: Sherry Davis and Mary
Degraw.
The time is drawing near for
the commencement of Branch
540's regular monthly meetings,
Please mark down these two
important dates. Tuesday Sep-
tember 20 the Ladies Auxiliary
meet in the Legion Hall at 8.30
p.m. and on Wednesday, Sep-
tember 13 our general meeting
will be held in the Legion Hall.
Make it a point to attend as
much important business has to
be discussed - come on out and
support your new president and
executive, They are looking
forward to your support.
