At this time of the year while
the consumer continues to think
about, and continue to eat,
barbecued steak and hamburgers
the cow-calf operators begin to
think about selling their weaned
calves.
Members of the various
,livestock associations involved in
the Northern Stocker and Feeder
Sales are also talking about, and
making plans for their feeder
sales. To assist buyers of feeder
cattle make the best use of the
northern feeder sales, the co-
ordinating committee has spaced
their sales over a reasonably
long, period of time. You will note
the first sale will be held at
Wiarton on Thursday, September
4 and the'last sale is at La Sarre
on Tuesday, October 21.
The Grey-Bruce Livestock Co-
Operative Association, at

have 3,400 head consigned for the
first two sales in September.
All sales committees continue
to improve their sale facilities

Council meets'
in closed session
A closed meeting of Huron
County council will be held today
to discuss proposals from 'the
county government restructuring -
committee. The proposals are
said to reduce the number of
municipalities in Huron county
from 26 to either eight or twelve.
The two proposals will be
discussed privately according to
Warden Anson McKinley who
stated that members were not
willing to have the talks public at
this time. He said they felt the
confidential nature of the
discussion would allow "open
discussion". He mentioned that
all meetings of county com-
mittees are held the same way.
Warden McKinley said that any
decisions which were made at the
meeting Thursday would have to
be brought up at general sessions
of Huron county council, likely in
September.
The restructuring s committee
has been gathering information
on possible alternatives in
municipal government since
earlier this year. Similar
discussions are being carried out
in neighbouring Middlesex and
Bruce counties.
List winners
of contest
This week's winners of the
"Wot Is It" contest being con-
ducted in the T-A are Linda
Roberts, RR 2 Kippen, Dennis
Keller, Exeter, and Mrs. Hedley
May, RR 1 Centralia.

town hall. It was torn down and
replaced with the Darling's IGA
parking lot and an addition to
that building.
This week a new photo appears
and readers may secure contest
entry forms from any of the
advertisers sponsoring the
contest. They should be for-
warded to the Contest Editor at
this newspaper.
Weekly winners receive e
Wintario lottery ticket and the
grand prize draw for which all
entrants are eligible is an
Olympic Lottery ticket.
