Darlene Rader, bride-elect of
September has been feted at two
miscellaneous showers. The staff
of the Bank of Montreal, Exeter,
held a shower at the home of
Larry and Sharon Lynn when
Darlene was recipient of many
lovely gifts.
At the second shower Donna
Restemayer and Marilyn Rader
were the hostesses. Readings and
contests were held. Darlene
received many lovely gifts for
which she thanked everyone and
invited them to her trousseau tea
and wedding reception, Sep-
tember 6 and 13.

Stephen Riddell spent last week
at Camp Menesetung, near
Goderich.

UCW meets

The UCW met Wednesday
evening at the home of Mrs.
Marjorie Steeper. Plans were
made for buying for the dinner
menu for the two weddings
coming up shortly. Mrs. Jack
Hodgson gave the treasurer's
report. Lunch followed and a
social half-hour was spent.
Wesley Lewis is a patient in St.
Joseph's Hospital, London.

Tuesday friends provided a
surprise birthday dinner for
Irving Stahl. It was fitting that
the party ended with an ac-
cordion-accompanied hymn sing,
for it was on the Stahl farm that
the first services of the
Evangelical Church were held
many years ago.
Rev. & Mrs. Bruce Pierce and
family have returned from a
camper holiday at Bayfield. Rev.
Pierce was in charge of the
Sunday morning service at Zion
United Church. Special music in
song was provided by Mrs. Lloyd
Roeszler and Mrs. Lloyd Hey,

at Mt. Carmel
Mrs. Don Ferguson and family,
B.C. have been visiting with Mr.
& Mrs. Norman Ryan and George
for the past ten days.
Rev. Fr. Basil Glavin, Ottawa,
is visiting with his mother Mrs.
Chas. Glavin and her family.
Many friends and relatives
attended the funeral of Mrs. Basil
Coolman Monday, which took
place at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel
Church with Rev. Fr. John
Mooney P.P. officiating.
Mrs. Hubert Desjardine and
Mrs. Mary Bedard visited for a
few days with their mother Mrs.
Catherine Morrissey who
celebrated her ninety-second
birthday, August 15. Many
friends called at her home to
congratulate her.
Sympathy goes out to the
family of Mr. & Mrs. Jacobus
Schoanderwoerd, Mitchell, who
were killed in a motor accident
last Saturday evening, near
Dashwood.
Mrs. Jane Schoanderwoerd,
the former Jane Joins, taught
piano lessons in Parkhill to many
young students from this area
prior to her marriage.
