A copy of a letter from the
Ontario Ministry of the
Environment to PUC manager
Hugh Davis indicated no
measurable interference oc-
curred with streamflow or with
existing ground water supplies
during the July 8 to July 11
testing.
The letter from Ministry
engineer E. Czarnecki em-
phasized that any permit to take
water will offer protection to
existing surface and ground
water supplies in the area from
serious interference whether it be
short or long term in nature.

cases the PUC provided better

The Huron County board of
education voted to discontinue
school safety patrols at public
schools in Goderich and Exeter at
Monday night's meeting.
"Legislation defines the limits
of a board's jurisdiction over
pupils as only while on school
property or while travelling on a
school bus," D. J. Cochrane,
director of education, informed
trustees.
The board is in a position where
it might be sued if an accident
occured at a board sanctioned
crosswalk, he said,
Student safety patrols will not
be operating this September,
while board-paid adult guards
will remain at the cross walks
until December 31.
The cost of crossing guards at
Highway 4, near Exeter public
school, is shared by the board and
Exeter council. There is also a
board employed guard on High-
way 21 at Victoria Public School
in Goderich.
In Goderich, grade 6 pupils
were members of a school safety
patrol.

town has been given permission to
erect a sign to the entrance to his
mobile home park.
A similar request some time
ago was rejected because the
proposed sign did not comply
with the present zoning bylaw.
Veri told council the present
temporary sign he has been using
will be removed within the next
couple of weeks. He added "After
that no one will know where we
are."
He continued, "The town ap-
proved our mobile home park and
now we should have some kind of
identification. The sign will be on
our own property."
Mayor Bruce Shaw left his
chair to propose a motion to
rescind the previous ruling
rejecting the sign application.
