CROMARTY
From early morning when the
first picnic tables were moved in
until eleven o'clock at night when
the, last ball game ended,
Cromarty Park was a hive of
activity Saturday.
The first game of softball got
underway about 10 a.m, when
Eltrriville peewee girls defeated
Hibbert 16-14, For Hibbert Betty
Upshall arid Nancy Scott divided
the pitching duties.
This game WAS followed by a
game for beginning players in
which Jeff Elliott's team
defeated Dean Elliott's by 20-19.
Coaches for this group are Gwen
Harburn and Claudette Elliott.
In the Hibbert peewee boys'
game Hibbert I defeated Hibbert
II by 20-9, Staffa senior girls met
Cromarty in the next game,
losing out 2 to 16. Marie Kerslake
pitched for the winners with Jean
Dow catching, and Valerie
Glanville and Teresa Miller
divided the Staffa pitching with
•Karen Machan behind the plate,
Then Hibbert bantam girls took
on a pick-up team of ladies and
won 26,13,
Over the supper hour Hibbert
South bantam boys aided by
Andrew Laing's grand slam
homer, defeated Hibbert North
21-10.Andrew Laing started
pitching for the winners and was
relieved in the sixth by John
Hunt, Bill McPhail was catcher
For Staffa, Terry Templeman
started with Dennis Parsons
taking over part way through,
Jim Scott caught.
Following this Mitchell's BPs
slow-pitch team defeated Mit-
chell Centennial team 16-7, In the
final game the local junior men
with Ken Harris pitching were
defeated by Fullarton juveniles 9-
2,

25th Reunion
The 25th reunion of the Allen,
McLachlan, Hoggarth families
was held in the Lions Park in
Mitchell on July 27 with an at-
tendance of 40,
Margaret Scott, Marilyn
Zimmer and Margaret Laing
were in charge of sports. Winners
were: five and under, Ricki
Thompson, Renee Thompson; 6-9
Steven Vivian, Tom Laing; Under
12, Janice Vivian, Andrew
Vivian; Wheelbarrow race,
Andrew Laing and Andrew
Vivian, Margaret Laing and Tom
Laing; ladies' kick the slipper,
Brenda Thompson; men's kick
the slipper, George Vivian;
elimination contest Robert Laing
and Agnes Bray; guessing
candies, Ted Taylor; oldest
present, Mrs. Jennie Bray,
youngest present, Danielle
Thompson; nearest birthday,
Murray Christie, Alf Ross and
Murray Christie were captains
for the relays.
Alf Ross presided for the
business. Officers elected for the
1976 reunion at Mitchell Park

The ball games weren't the
only attraction at the park,
Saturday afternoon. Pork chops
barbecued to perfection under
the watchful eye of Russell
Miller, Jack Butson,Eldon Allen
and their families were served
along with salads, cake and ice
cream to about 500 people.
Sunday night at the park,
Mitchell Grizzlies and the Twin
City Bombers met in a game of
slow-pitch with the Bombers
winning 18-15.

home Saturday night after
spending a few days with her son,
John and his family at Sault Ste.
Marie.
Mr. & Mrs, Barry Gammon,
Agincourt, spent the holiday
weekend with Mr., & Mrs. Eldon

The unveiling of the Ritchie
memorial plaque will take place
in Cromarty church next Sunday
at the eleven o'clock service.
Guests will be welcome and lunch
will be provided following the
service. For the remainder of
August, services will be held in
Hibbert United Church, Staffa,
Mrs. William Roebuck, Ver-
million, and Mrs. Jim Walline,
Sherwood Park, left Monday for
their homes in Alberta after
spending a few days with Mr. &
Mrs.Thos. L. Scott.
Mrs. Bill Priest, and Mr. &
Mrs. Harry Swallowell and
family, London, were weekend
guests of Mr, & Mrs. Mervin Dow
and Mr, & Mrs. John Scott.
Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Laing and
Peter arrived home Satur-
day night after attending the
wedding of their niece, Gladys
Eves, in Moose Jaw Sask, Before
returning home they motored to
Banff, Calgary, Lake Louise and
Jasper Park in Alberta. On the
return trip they visited with
relatives in Moose Jaw, Thunder
Bay and Sault Ste. Marie,

Brenda Gaynor have returned
borne following a two week's
vacation in Nova Scotia.
Mr. & Mrs, Tom Johnson
Brampton were guests for a
couple of days last week with Mr,
& Mrs. Ken Greb.
Mrs. Lorne Hicks attended the
Old Boys Reunion in Ripley,
Saturday and visited, over the
weekend with her brother and
sister-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Orma
Pollock in Kincardine,
Ruth Ann Essery has returned
home after holidaying with her
aunt Miss Arlene Newcombe in
Drayton Plains, Michigan.
Sunday visitors with Mr.& Mrs,
Ken Greb were Mr. & Mrs. Urban
Pfile of Zurich, Mrs, Hugh Love,
Exeter and Mrs. Reg Hodgson,
Port Blake.
Mr, & Mrs. Ray Shoebottom
accompanied by Bradley and
Lori Shoebottom spent the
weekend at their cottage at Parry
Sound.
Mr. & Mrs, Wm. Elliott and
family spent the holiday weekend
at Tobermory.
Mr. & Mrs. Ray Regular who
recently sold their home in the
village left on Monday for their
new home in Nova Scotia.
Mr. & Mrs. Fred Bowden ac-
companied by Mrs. Barry Reid,
Heather and Lori were
holidaying for a few days last
week in the north and enjoyed the
trip from Tobermory across to
Manitoulin Island on the Chi-
Cheemaun.
They visited Santa's village at
Bracebridge and called on Mrs.
Robert Smith at her cottage at
Cameron Lake.
