co-operate with the developer
regarding services.
"And they did it without con-
sulting the village of Grand

already have an agreement with

The .second reunion of the
family of the late Thomas C.
Allen was held at Riverview Park
in Exeter
An afternoon of very lively
sports events was organized by
Peter and Margaret Bowley of
London, Anne Marie Allen of
Mitchell and Ken and Kathy
Alden of St.Thomas,
Mark Allen of Londesboro won
the five years and under race;
Donnie Allen of Londesboro and
Colleen Scruton of Clinton won
the boys and girls six to nine year
races.Winners of the races for 10
to 15 year olds of boys and girls
were Brian Jackson of Ridgetown
and Barbie Maxwell of Hensall.
Sack, wheelbarrow and three-
legged races were also enjoyed
by the children.
There were also various games
for the adults with kick the
slipper being won by Peter
Bowley of London and Nahcy'
Cornish of Woodham.
After a delicious picnic supper,
this year's business was finished
up by the President Clifford Allen
of Mitchell with the minutes
being read by Secretary-
Treasurer Joan Allen of
Woodham. The success of this
reunion was due to the fine work
of this executive and the sports
and table committees.
The 1970 reunion was the next
item for discussion and it was
decided that a picnic would be
held again next year at River-
view Park on July 11 at 2 p.m. Love families enjoy tri

Douglas Barker of the Klein-
feldt group engineers for Grand
Cove Estates, said Grand Cove's
Participation in the Grand Bend
sewage system will result in a
deepening and enlargement of
the system. The developer has
already agreed to look after
additional costs and the village
has approved its participation.
William Moore of Oakwood and
London asked a number of
questions regarding the affect the
change would have on the en-
vironment.
"How often will the effluent go
into the Walker Drain and not the
Ausable River? Will the lagoons
be dumped twice a year?"
Mr, Barker replied that the
lagoons would be dumped spring
and fall and technically would go
into the Walker Drain, within a
few feet of where it joins the
Ausable River,
"What about the fish? What
about the London water supply?
What about the Grand Bend
Beach?" queried Mr. Moore,
firing questions at the board,
Aiding Mr. Barker in the an-
swer was Neil McMullin of the
Ministry of the Environment. He
said that the effluent from the
sewage lagoons would be iden-
tical to Ministry of Environment
standards and would have no
adverse effect . on the en-
vironment.
John Manore of Grand Bend,
continuing the questionning of
Mr. McMullin asked if he would
drink the effluent from the
lagoons. The reply was negative.
In rebuttal, Mr. McMullin
asked Mr. Manore if he would
drink the water from the Ausable
River at the present time. Mr.
Manore said that yes, he would
drink the water as it is clean
except on the top of the water.
Township farmer Keith Gill
compared the Environmental
Hearing Board to an Avon
salesman.
"Now you've got a foot in the
door, you are half way there", he
said,
Mr. Gill charged that the
township had approved the
spraying of effluent on the
surrounding fields and now the
developer wanted to change the
method so he could expand.
"Why aren't you going to use
the spray system", Mr. Gill
asked of the Grand Cove
representative. The only reply
was that it would be better to do it
now,
"Let's stop the whole thing
until Grand Bend's sewage
system is working," said Mr.
Moore.
