Duffy with a token gift in appreciation for her work as treasurer and public relations director for Aux Sables District of Girl Guides of Canada, at a tea at the home of Mrs. R. Venner. Mrs. Eric Luther, captain, reported that the booth at Hensall Spring Fair was a financial success, and thanked conveners Mrs, Doug Mann and Mrs, George Shiels. Mrs. Mann offered to be the Historian for the district, Many clippings, records and snapshots were turned over to her. Mrs. F, Giffin, District Com- missioner, reported that in Hensall two Brownie leaders, one Guide leader, a trieasurer and a badge secretary are required for operations in the fall. Any in- terested ladies may contact Mrs. Giffin in Exeter or Mrs. Luther in Hensall. Can you "Lend a Hand" to help the girls of Hensall Guides or Brownies? Jarvis conducted service in Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday, Mrs, Malcolm Dougall presided at the organ and accompanied the choir in the anthem "Hold Thou My Hand". Service next Sunday will be at Hensall United Church at 11 a.m, conducted by Rev. Don Beck and will continue during the month of August, Service will resume the first Sunday in September at 9 a,m, when Rally Day Service will he held in Carmel Church. Mr. & Mrs. George Dowson returned home from a trip through western Canada as far as Vancouver and while there visited with George Taylor. Mrs. Jim Taylor and daughter Miss Pamela Taylor of Kitchener returned home from holidaying in Quebec. The Duffy family expect to leave Hensall in mid August, and will take up residency in Winnipeg. Anthony Gelderland of Ridgetown visited Mr. & Mrs, Sim Roobol and Cornelius Roobol of Holland last Tuesday, Mr. & Mrs, Sim Roobol and Cornelius Roobol visited Mr. & Mrs. Van Den Heuvel in Goderich and Mr. & Mrs. Tom Kooy in Centralia. Mr. & Mrs. Don Dodds, Seaforth, joined the latter's parents, Mr. & Mrs. Sim Roobol and Cornelius Roobol visited Mr. & Mrs. Konynendyk of Wood- stock. Meeting for almost five hours Tuesday night Tuckersmith Council spent most of the time discussing drains. Ratepayers affected by Nett drain and the Reeve and Clerk Of Millet Township attended the meeting along with Engineer Henry Uderstadt of Orangville who was present to answer questions on the drain report. Hullet reeve John jewitt and Hullet clerk Clare Vincent, Norman Alexander, John and Jim Carter, Joe Gibson, John Bell, John Segerin, Douglas Hugill and Andrew Crozier. The drain is estimated to cost $50,000; Tuckersmith $18,665; Hullet $27,173; McKillop $1,662; No, 8 Highway $2,500, Minor changes will be made to the report. Court of revision will oe held September 2, 8:30 p.m. Robert Fotheringham and John NURSING HERE Maureen Connolly, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Connolly, RR3, Kippen, has graduated from Fanshawe School of Nursing, Woodstock. She has accepted a position at South Huron Hospital, Exeter, Appoint new village clerk Robert Jacob Heil of Welland has accepted the position of town clerk for the village of Hensall. Mr. Heil, 25 has completed a clerk-treasurer course from the University of Kingston as well as a two-year course on municipal administration. "We received 26 applications for the job said councilman John Baker. "It was a difficult decision to choose from so many qualified applicants, however we were looking for a younger mart, with some background and initiative." Mr. Heil will take office August 15. Families unite in Exeter park The Parker-Keyes picnic was held on Saturday at Riverview Park, Exeter with over sixty members and their families attending from London, Mitchell, Stratford, Grand Bend, Port Credit, Exeter, Hensall, Seaforth, Whitby, Brampton. Cpl. Doug Wein, Rick and Judith Parker were in charge of the races and games. They were assisted by George and Kan Parker. A delicious supper was enjoyed by all and a special feature of the event was the celebration of Mr. & Mrs. Wilmer MacDonald, Brampton 25th wedding an- niversary. A humorous mock wedding was enjoyed after which they were presented with an anniversary cake and many gifts. Mrs. Margaret Ruston Stratford was president, and Mrs, Patsy Dalton, Seaforth, treasurer of the picnic. Attend wedding at Newmarket Mr. & Mrs. Bert Horton, Mr. & Mrs. Peter McNaughton, Mr. & Mrs. Ed Corbett were in Newmarket on Saturday at- tending the wedding of Catharine Anne Vickers and Ronald Alan McGuckin in Trinity United Church, Newmarket. Council will apply for a L.I.P. grant (Local initiative program under the Federal Government) for 1975-76 which will be used in Vanastra for cleaning up brush, dead trees, etc. Huron County land division committee has approved severances for Mary Coleman Seaforth, for property in Har- urhey and for Frank Reynolds, Harpurhey, for property owned by him located across the road from his home, The Ontario Municipal Board notified council that approval has been given for re-zoning of part lot 26, concession 1, Huron Road survey from Maple Leaf Mills to construct a plant on the Klaver farm. The township received the first half, $8,499 of the 1975 un- conditional per capita grant for the Ministry of Treasury, Economics and Intergovern- mental Affairs based on a population of 2,833 amounting to $16,998 ($6 per head).
