Hensall town council met July 7 and examined tenders for painting the town hall, The contract was awarded to Dave Morrissey for $4490. Council also decided to accept the residential standard as set down by the home renewal program and will apply for $29,000 with an advance of $10,000, Council will advise home owners through the papers when money is available. Ernie Davis reported the culvert at the dump fixed, streets patched, boulevards mowed, Rob Pride, son of Mr. & Mrs. Robert Pride, and Melissa Veal, daughter of Mr. .8.z Mrs. Ross Veal, were recipients of the $25 Kinette scholarship awarded to the top boy and girl in grade 8 at Hensall public school. Cornelius Roobol, from Oud- Beyerland, Holland, is visiting with Mr. & Mrs. Sim Roobol and Mr, & Mrs. Don Dodds of Seaforth for six weeks. Joan and Paul Dodds Seaforth spent a few days visiting with their grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Sim Roobol. Recent guests with Mrs. Grace Peck included Mr. & Mrs. J.G. Elder of Oshawa, Mr. & Mrs. A.E. Howe of Tucson, Arizona, Mr. & Mrs. Lyle Statham, Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Elder, and Mr. & Mrs. Bill Brundage, all of Kingsville. They attended the Smiley-Elder reunion at Lion's Park, Seaforth, Saturday, July 5, and gathered at the farm of Jack and Lorraine Peck, west of Kippen on Sunday. Special guests were Steven Brooks, Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Andrew Howe, Fort Erie. Others attending the reunion were from Ottawa, Toronto, Windsor, Harrow, Ailsa Craig and Niagara Falls. He needs 10 bags of calcium for streets and a dead tree across from the arena should come down. Leonard Erb will investigate the issuing of dog licences. He reported that Postill was not happy with conditions at the dump as he finds domestic garbage on the trailer from Bendix and the mills dump beans etc. on top of the domestic gar- bage. Mr. & Mrs. Bill Jaques and family of Newcastle visited recently with the former's parents Mr. & Mrs. Oliver Jaques. Mr. & Mrs. Wilmer McGregor returned to their home at Sault Ste. Marie after vacationing with Mr. & Mrs. Edgar McClinchey. Mr. & Mrs. Joe Flynn and Mr. & Mrs. Jack Corbett returned home from a weekend camping at Silver Lake. Mr. & Mrs. Fred Ashard, London England are holidaying with their son-in-law and daughter Mr. & Mrs. Al Hoggarth and family. Edgar Munn who has been a patient in South Huron Hospital for the past several weeks returned to his home last week, Mrs. Dorothy Munroe of Seaforth visited last week with Mrs. Bertha MacGregor. Mr. & Mrs. James Sangster and Bradley were recent visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Holland. Gwen and Michael in Clinton. Council discovered the catch basins at Ira Geigers full of earth. Councillor Knight reported that Gregus Construction will be commencing construction of the new roof on the arena tomorrow and that a new air conditioner had been installed at the town hall. Murray Baker resigned from the arena parks board, Paul Neilands will take his place. Baker will be on the fair board, The Ministry of Housing is taking the Senior Citizens housing under advisement, Council will apply for the kit regarding the winter works program to begin November 3 and end June 1976. Building permits were issued to Wilmer Ferguson to take down a garage and build a new one. Glen Koehler to replace garage roof, J. Palsa to add 2 bedrooms and Bob Drysdale to renovate the kitchen. Bills and accounts amounting to approximately $65,827.70 were ordered paid. This included the Huron County Board of Education costs amounting to $35,956.50. Separate School $771.00 and County of Huron $22,800.00. Club rents Exeter pool The 3 C's club and their families, thirty-five people in all, spent a very enjoyable evening on Tuesday, July 8 when they rented the Exeter pool for a swim under the stars, and ended up at the home of Mary and Jim Dougall for a wiener roast. Rev. Jarvis and Jim Dougall were chief barbecue tenders. Next get- together to be in September with Hensall in charge. Watch your church bulletin for details. The steer sold for $1.30 per pound. T-A photo The annual Oddfellow and Rebekah picnic was held on Sunday at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Ernie Chipchase, RR 1. Dashwood when over forty members and their families attended. Dart games and croquet were enjoyed by all during the af- ternoon. Following a delicious picnic supper Mr. & Mrs, Percy Campbell and Mr, & Mrs.Ernie Chipchase directed sports. Children's race 10 and under; Jeanette Hoggarth, Tracey Parsons and Paul Parsons, Boys' race - Larry Parsons, Paul Hoggarth and Gregg Hoggarth. Ladies' kick the slipper; Mrs. Elizabeth Riley. Men's kick the slipper, Fred Ashard., Alex MacBeath and Percy Campbell were captains for a relay race, 1st golf ball, 2nd clothes pin. Percy Campbell's team won both races.
