As the summer season begins
to blossom so do the audiences at
the Huron Country Playhouse.
More and more residents, as well
as weekend visitors are finding
the Playhouse a congenial place
to go for an evening. Set on a
farmsite with all the original
buildings intact, it is a delightful
way to be entertained for an
evening.
This week's play is "The Glass
Menagerie" by Tennessee
Williams . This deeply moving
play shows a family's struggle to
try and improve their existence,
We learn of the humanity of the
Wingfields, as fragile as the glass
menagerie, reflecting facets of
hope, disappointment, whimsy
and humour in turn, A powerful
classic that one will remember.

from her role in the first
production of "Barefoot in the

Hup-two-three-four! Eight
triumphant walkers crossed the
finish line together Monday
evening at 4:30 completing the
twenty mile walkathon held by
the Huron Park recreation
program.

accompanied by Darlene Smith,
13; Tony Jones, 11; Mike Keller,
13; Andy O'Brien, 12; Glen
Alblas, 13; Gary Alblas, 13 and
Lynne Baptie, 16; staff
representative, were the first of
the 20 walkers who made it back
to Huron Park since leaving at
9:30 that morning for Mt. Car-
mel.
Undaunted by the rainy
weather 52 children participated
in the walk along concession
roads. Half of the days' earnings
will go to the South Huron
Association for the Mentally
Retarded while the remaining
portion will finance field trips for
the children.
The recreation staff extend a
grateful thank you to the
parents who donated sandwiches
and drinks and who picked up the
foot weary stragglers. Thanks
Dear Sir,
I am writing to inform your
readers that Grand Bend and
Southcott Pines, will be having
swimming lessons. Since your
last edition of the Exeter Times-
Advocate in which we stated that
Grand Bend would not be having
swimming lessons, we have had a
change in staff. Now with two
qualified Red Cross and Royal
Life Saving Society instructors,
we are able to handle a swim-
ming program.
Registrations will be held
Friday, July 11 from 9:00 a.m. to
11:00 a.m. and Saturday July 12
from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at
the municipal office, on the main
street beside the OPP station.
All levels from "learn-to-swim"
to Bronze Medallion will be
taught. Because Grand Bend is a
resort area and consequently
many people may be here for
only a few weeks, registration
will be by week excepting for all
levels above Junior Red Cross.
Those classes require a con-
secutive two week registration.
The price of the lessons is $4,00
per week for five lessons. Classes
will be taught at the south beach.
Be sure you give your children
an opportunity to learn to swim.
Don't be disappointed, register
today!
Thank you for your interest

John Goddard
Object to
rec levy
Replying to a questionnaire
78.5 percent of Tuckersmith
township property owners said
they were not in favour of an
added levy on their taxes for
recreation purposes.
Of the 991 questionnaires sent
out to all property owners in the
township 55 percent were
returned.
The problem on recreation in the
township arose when in April
council refused a request from
Seaforth for a donation of $2,300
towards the cost of capital im-
provements at the Seaforth
arena, The three other townships
Hullett, McKillop arid Hibbert
paid their donations.
In return the town of Seaforth
has levied a $15 per person
charge on Tuckersmith residents
who use their arena for organized
sports.

making the announcement of the
