Some sisters look alike, dress
alike, talk alike and act alike;
sortie share similar interests and
Minions; others are as different
as day and night. Nevertheless a
bond exists between most sisters
that's hard to break.
If you had a kid sister when you
were young,you probably became
annoyed with her. The little one
always tagged along, tried to
imitate you, got in your way and
ruined everything. In your
opinion, she was a nuisance and a
spoiled brat.
Eventually, though, she
.stopped following you. Whether
Or not you admitted it, you
missed her. Perhaps you were
flattered when the little girl
asked for your advice and tried to
follow in your footsteps.
On the other hand, if you were
the kid sister. you probably
claimed you older sister was
bossy. She was allowed to do
things that you couldn't do, and
you felt she was lording it over
you.
But you had to admit she was
nice to you sometimes. She took
you to shows and bought you
presents. As you matured, she
understood your feeling because
she had been through it. When
she gave advice, it was usually
sound.
Now, when you need someone
to talk to, vou often turn to your

The marriage of Kate Annie
Lively of RR 1 Kinmount, Ontario
and S. Victor Peter of RR 3
Exeter was solemnized by Rev.
E.A. Pulker in St. James
Anglican Church, Gravenhurst
on June 28. 1975.
The attendants were Mrs.
Edward Culloden of Gravenhurst
and Mr. Wayne V. Peter of
London. A wedding reception
followed in Gravenhurst.
Mr. and Mrs. Peter are
residing at RR 3 Exeter.
sister. You trust her with secrets
you wouldn't dare to tell anyone
else.
Sisters are honest with each
other. If your sister warns you
that the dress in the store window
isn't for you, it probably isn't, She
isn't being malicious; she's just
trying to save you a few dollars.
You might doubt her goad in-
tentions, though, if she bought the
dress for herself,
Some sisters borrow each
other's clothes. If their clothes
don't fit, they find something else
to borrow, such as wigs or
earrings, purses or perfume,
coffee pots, cups or bowls. Your
sister has excellent taste, if it's
similar to yours,
Sisters argue now and again —
sometimes the bickering is all in
fun, other times it's dead
serious. Most sisters forgive and
forget, though. They give and
take jokes without insult.
Occasionally your sister un-
derstands you better than you
understand yourself. She breaks
your ego balloon without shat-
tering your confidence. She also
curbs your impulsiveness without
destroying your dream.
Your sister cheers you up when
you're down, prods you when
you're lazy, corrects you when
you're wrong and defends you
when you're right.
When she asks for your advice,
she's sincere, and she makes you
feel wise.
Your sister may not share your
interests, but she recognizes your
right to enjoy them. She doesn't
give up on you, even though she
thinks you're crazy.
Your sister can be many things
— a friend or a tease, a boss or a
supporter, a teacher or a com-
petitor. She's an important
member of your family.
Some people have several
sisters, some have only one and
others have none. We lucky girls
have sisters who understand us
and support us all the way.
We realize that a sister is
someone special. When the chips
are down, she's a friend who's
more than a friend.
Party time for the lollipop set?
Move the festivities outside under
sunny skies, Mom. You'll have no
mass clean-up in the house af-
terwards, and if you take ad-
vantage of the gay paper plates
and cups available now, there's
barely any washing up either.
Just sweep everything into a
waste container and that's it!
That still leaves you the food to
plan for, but that's no great
problem. If there's one favorite
that goes with sunshine and
kiddies it's definitely ice cream.
Plan the refreshments around
this luscious dairy food and you'll
charm every kid on the block.
No matter how dear to the
hearts of the small fry, ice
cream does need a party-mate
for these very special occasions,
And it must be to quote the
youngsters, "scrumptious" as
well as novel enough to appeal to
their imagination! When you're
called into action on the party
front either of these two ice
cream "mates" will pull you
through with flying colors.
Both are based on cookie
favorites, but baked in jelly roll
pans, designed to give you party
quantities in a hurry.
Know any little chocolate
brownie fans? They'll love you
for these Mocha Fudge Bars.
They're really brownie sand-
wiches filled with whatever
flavor ice cream takes your
fancy. And for double chocolate
flavor they can be served up with
chocolate sauce. Make them up
ahead, ice cream and all, then
hold them in the freezer, When
refreshments are called for, just
dish them out with lots of milk to
quench the thirst of busy party
people.
