Maturity, that in grade Bthey
were "the big wheels" but that in
grade 9, they would be little guys
again. He said "you will have
responsibifities to smoke or
drink, or use pot, or abuse sex, or
not to do these things. It will be
your choice. Think about it this
summer. Will you be a live
'chicken' or a dead duck? There
will be opportunity and you have
to decide for yourself. I haven't
said 'don't do these things' that
would he silly, I say "ft is your
responsibility". The speaker was
thanked by Carol Strickland.
The vice-principal, Norman
Steeper, introduced the members
of the graduating class who took
their places on the stage, set up
as an old fashioned garden and
directed the following "Roaring
Twenties" musical program.
Mrs, Marjorie Morley, a
former teacher, presented the
Mowbray awards, saying that it
was an honor to be asked to make
the presentations which involved,
not only top academic per-
formance, but also promptness,
attendance, participation and
leadership qualities. The awards
went to Cheryl McIntyre and
Fenno DeVries.
The class sang "Down by the
Old Mill Stream" and "Strolling
Through the Park One Day, A
barber shop quartette sang
"Happy Days are Here Again"
and doubled as a dance group
when they danced to the same
song, as well as the Charleston,
They were joined by Fenno
DeVries, dressed up as a woman
with a very tousled wig, who did
"her" best to imitate the other
dancers. She added a real touch
of humour and surprise to the
members of the cast!
Pat O'Neil and John Nixon did
an excellent "Laurel & Hardy"
takeoff, with Faron Sovereign
acting the part of the innocent
bystander.
The program ended with the
choir presenting "Toot Toot
Tootsie Goodby" with the last
verse being changed from
Tootsie to Biddulph.
Robin Revington chosen as
valedictorian. reminisced over
the past years and thanked the
teachers and staff for their help
during these years. She said they
would be "kindergarten"
students at Medway and that they
must mature quickly, to meet the
challenges of high education. ,
A beautiful bouquet of roses
was presented to the music
teacher, Mrs. Lois Lanteigne, in
appreciation of her help with the
program, and during the year.
