Installations
In the near future, installation of
the long-awaited sewers in
different parts of town will begin.
When this happens, in all
probability, the drain to which
your basement drain is now con-
nected will no longer be ser-
viceable.
Before the new sewer is installed
on your street, you will be inter-
viewed by an engineer to ascertain
the most satisfactory location of
the lateral to serve your property,
both for drainage from the base-
ment and other plumbing.
It is suggested that you consult
with a plumber if you are in doubt
about the best location of the
lateral, and possibly also arrange
to have your connection made as
soon as possible after installation
of the sewer.

Saddle club
show is set
The Exeter saddle club
presents the seventh annual
Pinto and Appaloosa horse show
at the Exeter Community Park,
Saturday commencing at 8:00
a.m.
The judge will be Larry
Edwards of South Palmer
Dayton, Ohio, and there will be 52
line and performance classes.
These breeds of horses are shown
in their own class.
The Appaloosa horse registry,
was formed in 1938 and only
about 50 Appaloosas were found
that met registration
requirements.
In fact, the breed had just
about disappeared following the
surrender of the Nez Perce
Indians in the war of 1877 and the
scattering of their fine band.
But today it is a different story.
Perhaps even while you read this,
the number of 150,000 may be
affixed to an application for
registration after being
processed through a series of
registration desks.
The weight ranges from 950
pounds to 1175 pounds and 14.2 to
15.3 hands, The minimum height
of a mature Appaloosa (Five
years or older) is 14 hands. There
is no maximum height.
Appaloosas have solid coloured
or mottled roan foreparts being
light with dark round or egg
shaped spots over the loin and
hips, some are white with spots
over the entire body.
Mares are often less
colotlrfully marked, being a
mottled roan over the entire
body. Appaloosas often carry a
fine thin mane and tail. If the tail
is heavy it should be trimmed to
fall near the hocks. All
Appaloosas must be registered to
compete in Registered Appaloosa
Shows.
Pintos were included in the
first boatload of horses to come
to the new world with the Cortez
expedition in 1519, and in the
ensuing years, were used as
mounts by the Indians and early
cowboys.
The Pinto Association registers
horses of all breeds and types,
including ponies, saddlebreds,
parade and fine harness horses
except Appaloosa and draft
breeding. All horses at two years
of age must measure at least 14
hands and all stallions must pass
a strict conformation at two
years of age and must be from two
registered parents.
Pinto horses have two main
colour patterns - Tobiano and
Overo.Tobiano spots are usually
regular and distinct. The Overo,
the white will not cross the back
between the withers and the tail.
The body colour is basically dark,
with irregular splashy white
markings.
The Pinto registry of mares
and geldings is still open. All
horses must be registered to
show. Plan to attend this fast
growing colorful breeds show on
Saturday.
' A similar show will be held
Sunday in Sarnia at the Saddle
'Club grounds.
The only person who listens to
both sides of an argument is the
women the apartment next door.

In a pair of Western Ontario
Athletic Association juvenile
baseball games this week, the
Crediton and Goderich clubs
gained an even split.
In Dashwood, Thursday, the
Crediton-Dashwood Combines
scored an 11-2 win over Goderich
and back in the lakeport town
Sunday, the situation was
reversed with Goderich coming
up with a 12-8 victory.
The Crediton-Dashwood club
will be back in action Sunday
afternoon at 2 p.m. at the
Crediton diamond with Kin-
cardine supplying the opposition.
On their home field, Sunday,
the Goderich club broke loose for
all 12 runs in the first three in-
nings and held on for the 12-8
win.
Rob Dickey was the starting
pitcher for Crediton and gave up
the dozen rims to Goderich. Larry
Clarke took over in the third and
held the opposition scoreless. He
allowed only two. hits while
recording nine strikeouts.
The Crediton scoring started in
the second inning when Larry
Clarke was safe on an error and
Paul Truemner walked and
scored on Perry Preszcator's
single and a pair of sacrifices.
In the Crediton fourth, Larry
Clarke doubled and came home
on sacrifices delivered by
Truemner and Preszcator.
Clarke also planted the fourth
Crediton marker in the sixth
inning.
The seventh frame saw Rob
Dickey crack a single and came
around on similar safeties from
the bats of Rodger Finkbeiner
and Bruce Hodge.
Brian Taylor's single was
responsible for two Crediton runs
in the eighth and Finkbeiner
singled and counted the final run
for his club in the ninth.
Lots of whiffings
In Thursday's win over
Goderich Larry Clarke held the
visitors to only two hits and
fanned 18 batters. The only
Goderich scores came in the first
and seventh innings.
The Crediton club scored twice
in their half of the first frame and
were never headed. Rodger Fink-
beiner singled, Larry Clarke
doubled and Noel Skinner singled
to supply the batting power.
In the Crediton third, First-
beiner walked and scored on
Clarke's single. The big rally for
the winners came in the fourth
when five runs crossed the plate.
Leading the assault in the
fourth were Rodger Finkbeiner,
Brian Taylor, Larry Clarke, Noel
Skinner and Matt Muller with
singles.
Rodger Finkbeiner walked and
scored in the sixth, Ron Bowers
doubled and scored in the eighth
on a single delivered by Mike
Desjardine,
Keith Davey notched the final
Crediton score as he walked and
completed the bases cycle on a
double by Brian Taylor.
