Fashions waltz into spring
School board member
outlines responsibilities
displayed in the gym, as well as a
picture which included all the
ministers of the church since
1925.
The 1975 fashions for children,
(who, by the way, stole the show)
teens, men and women were
modelled by local people and
were lovely. The 1925 fashions
worn by six members of the
Friendship Unit and loaned by
Theatre London, brought the
house down!
Owing to the unfortunate
illness of the commentator, Mrs,
Robert Stutt, Mrs. James
Freeman of Holy Trinity
Anglican Church agreed, on very
short notice, to do this very
important job. The members of
the UCW are most grateful to her
for a job well done.
Piano music, in moods to suit
the different models, was
provided by Mrs. Clarence
Hardy, also a member of Holy
Trinity, so it proved to be quite an
ecumenical evening.
Guests were welcomed by
president Mrs. Ross McRoberts
and the various conveners in-
cluded Mrs. Ivan Hearn in charge
of models, Mrs. Eldon Young,
refreshments, Mrs. George
Carpenter, decorations with Mrs.
McFalls, Mrs. Edythe Mugford,
Mrs. Stanley Flood and Mrs.
John MacDonald assisting the
models in the feminine dressing
room. Gary McFalls assisted in
the men's dressing room. Mrs. M.
H. Hodgins was the general
convener.
During intermission, Mrs.
David Park conducted the draws
for the door prizes and winners
included:Diane Flood, sunglasses
from Carpenter Optical, Exeter;
Donald Smith, gift from Janice's
Beauty Salon; Jean Hodgins, gift
from Muriel Carling, Avon Rep.;
Muriel Corbett, gift from Betty
Hodgins, Avon Rep.'; Elinor
Kestle, set from the Skylark
Beauty Salon; Diane Goudy, set
from Sharon's Beauty Salon; Bill
Darling, set from Joyce's Beauty
Salon; Linda Abel, gift certificate
from Nicholson Flowers.
Needless to say, the two gen-
tlemen prize winners caused a bit
of hilarity, but their wives will be
the beneficiaries!

Lodge ladies
entertained
Members and friends of Irving
Lodge No. 154 A.F.&A.M. en-
tertained their ladies at a dinner
dance on Friday evening, May 16
at the Lucan Community Centre.
A delicious roast beef and or
chicken dinner was enjoyed, by
approximately 100 couples, with
Bill Smith as master of
ceremonies.
Head table guests included
Right Worshipful Brother and
Mrs. Earl Watson, the District
Deputy Grand Master of South
Huron District, who brought
greetings from Grand Lodge.
Also present were two 50 year
members, Brother Harold
Corbett and Brother Harold
Hodgins with their wives.
,Tribute was paid to the ladies
by Bro. Dan Gwalchmai and Mrs.
Robert Anderson, wife of the
Master of the Lodge made an
appropriate response. On behalf
of all the ladies present, Mrs.
Anderson was presented with a
dozen red roses and a gift.
Mrs. Watson reveived one of
the lovely table centres while
Mrs. Corbett was presented with
the other arrangement.
Dancing was enjoyed,
following the dinner, with the
music being provided by the Joe
Overholt Orchestra.
The Junior Warden, Brother
Emerson DeGraw, was convener
for the event.
Bolens tillers take the back
breaking work out of ground
breaking. Powered by 5 or
31/2 hp engines, they slice
through the ground. An ad-
justable depth bar lets you
regulate tilling down to 6"
deep. Till a narrow 9" row or
as wide as 461/2 " (with tine
extensions). Wide handles
keep tiller in line. All con-
trols conveniently mounted
on console. Batons. A good
yard ahead.
On Thursday evening Mr.
James Scott, McGillivray Bid-
dulph & Lucan member on the
Middlesex County School Board,
spoke to members of the Home,
School & Community
Association, at their May
meeting in the Lucan School. Mr.
Scott spoke of his duties and
responsibilities on the board and
to the ratepayers in the three
municipalities. A most in-
teresting and informative
question and answer period
followed, The executive was
disappointed that more parents
were not interested in learning of
things which concern the
education of their children.
Mrs. H. J. Barnes, treasurer
for the Lucan & District
Cooperative Nursery School,
spoke of the work done with this
age group and showed a film
taken at the school. A question
and answer period also followed
this presentation.
