Centralia UCW held their
meeting on Thursday with 21
present. Mrs. Marion Abbott
opened with a poem "Time". The
hymn "Christ the Lord is risen
today" was sung and the scrip
ture read by Mrs. Aldeen Skinner
from Luke in keeping with
arrangements, Christmas
hanging, cookies and others. She
spoke on the work involved in
doing crafts with love of
designing and using her many
talents.
A questionnaire was given to
small groups, discussing the
topic "A look at ourselves"
Types of meetings and interest
for new members were
discussed. The hymn "Breathe
on me breathe of God," closed the
devotionals.
Mrs. June Essery opened the
business with a poem "Who gives
all," Roll call, minutes,
treasurer's report were ap-
proved.Twelve visits were made.
The 50th anniversary United
Church spoons are for sale, and
the UCW are getting plates with
the crest on.
A letter was read from Rev.
Ewart Clarke, Scarborough
saying his father Rev, John
Clarke is 50 years ordained and
on June 1 a special service is
being held in Scarborough's Knob
Hill United Church at which Rev.
J. Clarke is preaching the ser-
vice.

Mr. & Mrs. Alvin Lobb were
guests at the Braid-Docking
wedding in the Fullarton United
Church on Saturday. The bride is
a niece of Mr. & Mrs. Lobb.
Arlene Newcombe of Drayton
Plains, Michigan visited for a few
days last week with her sister and
brother-in-law Mr. & Mrs. W.R.

John Thompson visited with his
mother, Mrs. Annie Thompson in
the hospital in Listowel on
Saturday.

Sunday,during which baptismal
rites were administered to Scott
Cameron Thomas, and were
guests following the service with
Mr. & Mrs. John Thomas and

St. Catharines were weekend
visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Elmer
Powe and Alan and on Sunday all
were dinner guests at the home of

tended a family dinner in honour
of Mother's Day at the home of
Mr. & Mrs. William Allison and
family, Ailsa Craig.
Sympathy is extended to Rev.
& Mrs. E.D. Stuart with the
passing of Mr. Stuart's father,
William Stuart.

The spring meeting of the
Kirkton Horticultural Society
was held on Tuesday May Ii in the
Kirkton-Woodham Community
Centre with a large attendance.
The meeting was opened with a
reading by Mrs.Ellis Strahan.
Susan VanDerSpek favoured
with a solo accompanied by Mrs.
Glen Copeland at the piano.
Mrs. Phil Johns introduced the
guest speakers, Mr. & Mrs.
Donald Pullen of Clinton. They
had an interesting talk and
showed some slides on "Plants
and Plant Families."
Mrs. Allan Eveleigh thanked
the guests for coining.
A comical "fashion show" was
presented by several members
from the Elim ville area.
Mrs. Strahan announced plans
for a bus trip to Kitchener in June
and the meeting closed with a
plant exchange. The next
meeting will he held in August.
