those much sought after trophies,

So the only way you will know

father and son banquet. The
guest speaker this year will be
Reg Whalley, coach of our junior

of his thunder we will let him tell
you where.
Now remember dad - be sure to
take that young hockey player of
yours over to the banquet, we're
depending on you.

Councillor Harry Wraith

can do, a private enterprise can
do cheaper,"
Councillor Gary McFalls
backed this statement, and
estimated the price Lewis
charges would not even cover the
cost of wages for the village to do
it themselves.
At present it was stated, it costs
Lucan about $10 per capita for
garbage pickup annually. Council
agreed to accept the increased
costs until the end of the year.

Many people may not know the
location of Lucan. Even Lucan
council is not sure of just where
the northern boundary of the
village is. They do know within a
few yards, but decided at the
monthly meeting Monday to
contact a surveyer to tell them
just where the boundary is,
Although not a major concern,
both I3iddulph Township and
Lucan wish to know clearly
where the boundary is located.
In reporting for the arena
board, councillor Larry Hotson
said the proposed renovation
project to the arena needs sup-
port.
He said four letters were sent
out to the municipalities in-
volved, Lucan, Biddulph, London
and McGillivray Townships, but
none replied, He said he felt if
Lucan council backed the
project, "we could sell the other
three,"
Council approved a 45 percent
share in the costs of the
renovations, but was reassured
by Hotson that a dime wouldn't
be spent until they know
everything about it, He said
meetings would be held to
determine needs of the areas and
groups involved.
Hotson also said he doesn't
expect anything concrete to be
started on the project until "a
year from this fall,"
For a time at the meeting,
Lucan council was very con-
cerned over garbage removal
from the village.
Cecil Lewis, who holds the
garbage pick-up contract, told
council he would be forced to
discontinue the service if he
cannot secure continuing con-
tracts with the areas he now
serves.
He said the other areas are
concerned over the increase in
costs. However, he pointed out
that the increased cost to Lucan
was lower because of the close
proximity to the dump site.
Another factor keeping the costs
lower for the village, he said, was•
it took less time to get a full load
there, than in rural areas.
It was also mentioned that
other townships had tried to find
their own dump sites, but were
unable to, At present the dump
site serving Lucan is 80 acres in
size; with three acres already

June 1, 1975,
Since the apartment over the
municipal building has been
vacant, several have applied to
council for tenancy. One group
was the Pre-school Association of
Lucan. At present, they are
operating from St. Patrick's
school. Because of a potential
noise problem with the 15
children, council turned down
their application but thanked the
group for their interest. The other
!applications willIbe culled over
and atenant selected.
In the correspondence, the
Ontario Municipal Board asked
Lucan council to carefully con-
sider their annual capital ex-
penditures.
The Middlesex 4-H leaders club
was given a donation of $30 for
their fair, in conjunction with
Western Fair.
Two tickets, totalling $17,50
were purchased for the
retirement dinner of Len Morris

Gibson said he has been very
helpful to the village through the
years.

Thompson will be checking the
prices of two new tires for the
village truck.

Arva Tuesday to view the London
Township tractor, which Lucan
hopes to buy.

checking trees for removal in the
next few days.
