Plan race
for GB boats
Grand Bend council Monday
night authorized the village
recreation committee to deal
with the Grand Bend yacht club
regarding arrangements for the
Canada Trust 100 race on June 27-
30. The yacht club has requested
that a portion of the docking
space be placed in its control for
the period in return for a donation
to the recreation committee. In
the past, the local dockmaster
has handled arrangements,
Councillor Harold Green, also a
member of the recreation
committee, suggested that the
race was a "good drawing card"
for Grand Bend and council
should co-operate. He said about
35 yachts from four or five dif-
ferent yacht clubs were expected
to attend.
The Canada Trust 100 is a race
from Brand Bend to Senelac,
Michigan, back to Goderich and
finally ending at Grand Bend.
Reeve Bob Sharen commented
that the race has and will bring
the community extensive news
coverage.
